Rain delay could make it hard on the bullpen tonight. Don’t know if May would come back after 30+ minutes off.

Just more “set it and forget it” from the relievers. The bullpen is dominant right now.

Close to playoff baseball atmosphere tonight. Unfortunately, feels like typical playoff losses for the Brewers. Still did the necessary work of getting the split in Chicago. But taking 3-of-4 after the blowout in Game 1 would’ve felt tons better.

That’s some shoving by Henderson since being called up. Better than most deadline acquisitions.

No dice with RISP so far tonight. Not a ton of chances, but getting no hits is rough.

Got through 5 with Henderson. Can roll him out for the 6th with his pitch count. Facing Crow-Armstrong with no one to lead off.

Turang really needs a reset after his terrible August.

Worked a little in the 4th inning against Bregman, but big for Henderson to put up a zero after getting a run back. Need those shutdown innings when making comebacks. Seeing the young pitchers get them is great to see.

Sometimes they hit your pitch. Henderson tends to give up solo shots so far due to keeping the walks down. Unfortunately, that one had a runner on by base hit.

Not how one would typically draw up a win in a Misiorowski start, but it’s another victory towards clinching the division and a potential top seed. Dominance being shown by the Brewers’ bullpen stands in great contrast to the Cubs’ relievers.

Adams as a "catch lightning in the bottle" move would be intriguing, though I don't know if adding another rookie to the roster would be to Murphy's liking compared to having a Lockridge or Bae available. Naylor as third catcher could also make sense. But isn't there something about his MLB service time where limiting the days on the MLB roster this season could ensure future control through 2030 instead of 2029? Keeping him in Nashville through the end of the AAA season on SEP 20 might hold him under that cap. The Brewers' season has six games left after SEP 20, which might allow him to be called up for the final week before the playoffs--or a little earlier, depending on the service time issue. So between a perceived bias towards veterans and the Naylor third-catcher idea, Adams might not be freed.

Lack of power in the lineup looks like the looming potential downfall in a playoff series. Last in the NL in home runs; 11th in slugging percentage. That type of instant offense, one-man rally potential, let alone the 3-run bombs, is an advantage for the other NL contenders: Dodgers, Cubs, Phillies, and Braves. -
Chance to steal the win in extras. Top of the order up in the 10th. Go get a crooked number.

I would like to have Bauers return, but him going to Anaheim for 2027+ would make a ton of sense. The Angels have Jorge Soler at DH/RF coming to the end of a big contract. Bauers certainly seems to love hitting in California. Having him and Trout as veterans in the clubhouse with their younger players would be optimal. I could definitely see Bauers getting a 3–5 year contract from the Angels and playing at home. He should get more money than the Brewers should prudently spend at that position, given the homegrown bats coming up at AA/AAA. That would leave a Vaughn at first base for 2027. Perhaps that brings a pairing with Burke as a platoon. Alternatively, the club could spend some of the money not going to Bauers on a 1-2 year "prove it" contract for a 1B/OF/DH sort. There's always the possibility of a trade (Contreras, Mitchell, Frelick?) that we don't see coming right now that could bring back a multi-year controllable bat.

Starting to look like the Brewers will need a metric crap ton of baling wire and duct tape to get through this West Coast trip. Definitely going to be hearing footsteps behind them in the standings.
