With the new ruling of “5 for 5” where college athletes now have the ability to compete in 5 years vs 4, I wonder if college juniors like Knaak (with NIL) may have more leverage to return for their senior year and take a gamble they can make more money the following year. It will be interesting how this new wrinkle impacts college signings going forward.

Now that the draft has settled I wanted to learn more about some players and see what if any commonalities exist between the draft picks. Still sorting through players but in 2023 Trey Ebel was on the 15u USA baseball team. I didn’t see that he had any future Brewer teammates on the USA roster but the team played against the Dominican Republic 15u team which had Brewer farmhand Alexander Frias on the team. How awful. This sounds quite serious and concerning. Thinking of Frank and his family. It’s times like these that really puts things into perspective.

Long time reader, I love MLB draft day and always exciting to add new talent to the Brewer organization. I was curious about some of the recent signings so I did a deep dive into Chase Bentley. He played on Team USA’s 15U team in 2022 with Brady Ebel. In one of the box scores I saw he played against Team Venezuela with a couple of other Brewer farmhands in Nicolas Barrios and Jonathan Rangel. First post so I hope I’m adding the link correctly.
