  1. Yeah, don't take this guy for granted..... I have enjoyed too much Brewers baseball to poo poo anything Bud Selig.
  2. Gomez has done enough stupid things this season alone to warrant a change of attitude from everyone on this thread that supported Gomez. This thread originated before the season even started, mind you. To all of you liberal, nobody does anything wrong, give him a pat on the back, " he does more good than bad, accept the bad" Brewers fans, what more does he have to do to get him to be sat down a couple of days for his stupidity. Will that help? It can't hurt. We are losing anyway with him and quite frankly, because of him! Letting him play everyday sure hasn't worked!!!!!! The man has no clue ..., NO CLUE.... how to run the bases. Rec softball players are light years ahead of him. Now, he just hot doubled off 2nd down by four in the 4th, crushing a rally. More over, he didn't even dive back into the base correctly! He beats it back if he touches base with fingers instead of palms! Unstinking believable! The depth of his cluelessness knows no bounds.... It is on Counsell now! Try something..... Make it public, yes public, that this is total crap. Be pissed that we are losing ball games because his stupid play. Totally fixable! Wild stallions are trained. 18 year old morons are trained in the military.... Work on base situations with him to death ... Show video clips of his repeated stupid throws and running errors. Poor ol Gomez is getting picked on, right???? Waaaaaaaaaa!!!!! We can't upset him, right? Why not? He's been ticken us off for years. Try something new. Tick him off, sit em, trade em. What we have done thus far hasn't worked?
  3. Uh.... Sounds like a great thing for this year. Yet, I get the impression that this is going to be a permanent fixture in the ballpark, a Way to honor the commish and man who brought baseball back to Milwaukee. The question... is will people go thru it next year and the next if they already saw it this year? When people inevitably stop seeing it (besides opponent fans) will they change it up still focusing on Selig???? Change it up using a tribute to Uecker???? 82 team ???? Aaron??? Perhaps all above capped by a Brewers Hall of Fame??? Or would this be a diss to Selig? How do you maneuver diplomatically and smartly with this exhibit into the next 5, 10 years? Great concept.... Interesting situation...
  4. Just curious if any brewerfan.netters saw this... How was it? I read that there are two shows on game days...strange that each starts during the game. Wouldn't it make sense to start both before the game ... one at 6:00 and the other at 6:40 or so?
  5. I'll take Lepay.
  6. Fairly indifferent with Rock..... But BA seems to not enjoy calling games anymore. Talks of FINALLY having the game over... Having the road trip over ....jokes more than necessary. More than anything, I don't like his sharing duties for college and NBA basketball. I'd like a guy who commits to the Brewers and that job is number 1 to him and is excited to call it, regardless of performance. Seems like a nice guy... Talented, no doubt...Yet I am starting to question where his heart lies. Getting pissed listening to his calls.
  7. So..... in 3 years, when Parker is restricted FA, if he gets a 3 year offer, Bucks can match and Parker stays with the Bucks for three more years or would it just be one year at the avg rate per year of the offered deal? For clarity of the Free agency rules, how about if multiple teams offer, some offering a shorter deal and others a bit longer for Parker, do the Bucks have to match the best one? How is the best one determined? If one is 3 years for 17 million a year and the other is 15 a year for 4 years, what is the deal the Bucks have to match? How about if Parker is not offered a contract from another team and the Bucks cannot get him signed to a long term deal after his first four years with the team I read that if this plays out, the Bucks could have him for another year, sort of on their terms, with a percent salary increase, for one more year. Then, however, he could hit FA as unrestricted. If this is true, wouldn't it be in the Bucks best interests to get another team to offer a long contract so the Bucks could match it after Parker's first four years? If someone could indulge me and set me straight with all of these questions. I would appreciate it.... Thanks.
  8. How long will they be with Bucks? If they can be gone after four or five years, why should the common fan gain hope of a great future? I know MLB rules/contract info.... Just starting to learn NBA. Help needed for some clarifications, please.
  9. I liked him.... Very honest and loyal..... I liked his use of the stolen base and the safety squeeze... I'll forever be thankful to him for 2011! On the other side, I didn't see much change in base running idiots running into outs continuously. Righteous outrage, which could have been helpful with certain personnel situations, was not his style. Just waaaaaay too many losses in the last three months with the talent we have, even if we are just a .500 club. Mixed emotions..... Weird timing..... Just looks like an attempt to save the season and sneak into the playoffs, which I have no problems with, by the way. It will take a miracle-like event for that to occur, however.
  10. Yep..... Being .500 would take a monumental turnaround.
  11. With the season close to being lost, the team probably will be looking at ways to get fans in the park. I propose a Photo Night, ala warning track style in the 80's. I went as a kid at County Stadium and have a cool picture with Fingers. Because of it, I feel a connection to the man and history of the franchise, even if small. Now,the team has the winter warmup with photos and pictures, which is very popular. Autograph Saturdays are also a popular monthly theme. A photo night seems like a great way for the team to connect or to reconnect with fans.... Bring back Gorman and Gumby too along with Jenkins and Sheets. Make it a fun event before the game.
  12. If RR said, "Gomez, you cannot steal 3rd with 2 outs," wouldn't that be enough? Shouldn't it be? Why can't this be done? Protect him from doing something dumb... save him from himself.
  13. Favre and Gomez, huh? Holmgren managed Favre better than Rhodes and Sherman. He wasn't afraid to tell Favre off... Favre changed under Holmgren... there was a progression which changed him from a gunslinger to a more rounded quarterback, a 3 time MVP. His INT went down every year from 93 to the Super Bowl year. The short passing game, the West Coast offense, allowed him to thrive. Under Rhodes and Sherman, he had more freedom, and he made more mistakes. They got away from the short passing game. Neither coach had the balls to put him in his place. I'll put RR in this group of coaches.... not a bad coach, but a guy who isn't willing risk confrontation to get positive change from stars.
  14. Icbj68c, my guess is that you haven't been benched in softball for your mental lapses.... For years, many coaches, including and especially Bo Ryan, the bench has been a great teacher.
  15. Making better decisions is in everyone's DNA......including Gomez. By mere choice, he has yet to have enough of anegative factor come in to change him from air mailing it home and being overly aggressive on the bases..... He still plays everyday and he's glorified by his manager publicly.... Why change? It is beyond me why RR believes he must NOT Help and teach this wild unbroken stallion. Why, oh why? So he is at his best by leaving him be? Because his fragile psyche can't manage correction? By leaving him be, a team damaging poison and fan base beat ourselves headache continues.... Gomez is good, but he could be better and we could be much better, without the continued little league- no,no -make that t-ball mistakes..... Such a rally and momentum killer...
  16. Game 6- 9th inning.... Gomez just airmailed another up the line... No runners advanced but should have I'm gonna keep bangin this drum until things change....ridiculous.
  17. Went to Maryvale and saw up close baserunning activities.... Wasn't impressed with it, especially how decisions were taken away from fielders and runners. viewtopic.php?f=63&t=32476
  18. Game 6...... Gomez picked off - between 2nd and 3rd- for 3rd out..... Ho hum, par for course for Gomez... Reminds me of base running error in last series in Pitt. Wonder if he'll be benched like Gennett???? No cotton picken way! How is Gennet's goof any worse than any of Gomez crap over the years? RR is making Scooter the scapegoat on a minor issue but isn't willing to take on a bigger fish. Coward! Pick on a picked on player, monkey pile on someone smaller than you..... Gomez has made dozens of MENTAL errors far worse than Scooter's and nothing happens.... The man continues to be glorified by how aggressively stupid he plays and no playing time is taken, no issue of his stupid play is even brought up!!!!!!!! Can't Ron simply say, "Gomez, you (and the team) have a red light on 2 outs when you are at 2nd...." ? Rule stands until Sedar puts on the green light for you in a particular situation. Blaming RR more and more for stupidness. By the way, after Gomez was picked off to end inning, Pirates got next two on and then hit a homer. Momentum is very evident in baseball, and plays like Gomez makes, kills it and builds it for the other team. It also pisses off many in the fan base because it is accurately seen as us beating ourselves.
  19. Make that, in true batting order order..... Molitor Yount Cooper.........Gantner
  20. Yount Molly coop and gumby
  21. 2nd game..... Garza either forgot the outs or can't throw a come backer to 2nd base
  22. Opening day....... Davis doesn't run out blooper that falls behind 1B- has to stay on first 2nd day.... Lind chucked at third for the first out of inning (down 3-0 in fourth) Par for course.....
  23. Best seats? Seats by the dugout... Best seats for the money? Usually, you can get cheaper seats on stubhub in loge inf sections 227/210 for half price.... Uecker seats for a buck are tough to beat if you just want to get in.
  24. Friday's report from Maryvale practice.... 1.Guys having fun, laughing, enjoying perfect morning weather (10-11:30) 2.Braun, Lucroy, Gennett, Schafer hanging together a bunch in drills 3.Team worked on base running for about 35 min...... Started with nonpitchers pretend swinging and then running the bases. Did 2 laps Running in the OPPOSITE direction, then 2 in the normal way .... Ed Sedar at 3rd doing a hi five/ handshake for each..... Fun but odd 4.Then minor league Brewers (Lara too) came to run bases to work on defensive situations for defense. Runner on home and then 1b and a coach would hit a ball ( From short OF) down into the corner. Minor leaguers run. It was the OF's job to hit the cutoff and then make the play at home.... 5.Next drill, runner on 2nd and home, the ball would be hit to the RF and the ball would be cut by the 1b on the throw home, throw to second to get in a rundown. Not bad drills within themselves. Yet, ALL the decisions were made by coaches, not players. Why, oh why? 6.Players should be making the decision on the fly where to throw the ball and how to throw the ball. Gennett should be thinking and guys should be telling Gennett to throw, not throw and to which base. Gennet was chucking it without even seeing if there was going to be a play at the plate. The 2nd runner wasn't ever thrown at (3rd) on the balls down the line.. The ball went home everytime. Same thing with hits to RF. The ball was cut everytime, regardless of whether there was a play at home or not....Minor leaguers weren't running hard on the bases, no slides at home. I could go on, but let's just say that these drills did not replicate game time situations. Very little talk from coaches on anything, quiet often... Give em game situations or something... Hoping that this isn't the extent of teaching game situations, though I expect it is...Sigh 7. Talked to Henderson, Fiers (said his arm is fine- he hesitated a bit when answering, however... Not sure if I believe him), Sedar (taking WI by 1 over Kentucky) 8. Got a ball from Parra (silently gave him a back door basketball head nod, while he was running off the field into the dugout to hit, and he lobbed it to me-or maybe my wife) 9. Only about 20 fans here, a few young boys shagged balls on the berm.... They threw them back onto the field of play... I think they were told by security to keep the last ones hit to them, though, for a souvenir. 10. Braun again..... He's looking like a power hitter again. 11. Players played long toss for about 7 min...... Parra launched one from the warning track into the first few rows as the drill ended... 12. Starting players hit and then fielded their positions... Usually we're talking to someone standing near them.... 13. Very underwhelmed by effort of play and gamelike conditional drills except IF (Gennett, Gomez, Segura)... Sloppy, in general.... 14. Krod no where to be seen 15. H. Gomez impressed me -effort, attitude and pop of his bat 16. Ramirez similar to Wednesday.... Lack of pop off his bat again.... Warning track power 17. Relievers fielded OF after starters left field around 11:20. (Game at 1:05 in Goodyear) Overall, I had a blast! Along with the two practices, I went to two games (Cubs and Indians ballparks) on Wed. And Fri...... Cubs ballpark was the best of the three seen with Goodyear coming in second, Maryvale 3rd, in my opinion. Cubs new park was crowded... broke attendance records this year (11,000 per game) Indians/Reds park had lowest attendance this year (4,000 + on Fri.) Would give Maryvale 2nd if it was in a better area with things to do/restaurants. Super friendly fans from many teams everywhere... players were accessible and gracious. I enjoyed the practices more than the games (even though we had front row seats -stubhub $24 each-behind dugout in Goodyear on Friday) because of the interaction with players, the hitting displays, and the behind the scene practice drills I had only wondered about previously.... And it was FREE! Go if you haven't yet..... You'll be glad you did!
