  1. Melvin will take care of us. I've been wavering on this one since about August because there are obvious advantages to each side. I think a trade helps us most for 2007 and beyond, but it could potentially be the best for 2006 too assuming we don't trade him for Christian Guzman or something. I look forward to seeing how Melvin handles this, but I have the feeling I'll be at peace whether or not he's on the opening day roster in 2006. However, I'd be willing to bet parts of my male anatomy that he's not around in 2007.
  2. One more thing... Today, the Brewers had two innings to give to the bullpen, and they could choose anyone they wanted and not have to worry about resting them for the next few days. And who did they choose for those 2 innings? Gary freakin' Glover. That was our best option. I REALLY hope we shore-up that bullpen this offseason, and don't spend much money in the process.
  3. EXCELLENT picture (Overbay w/ sale sign). You know, today's Aflac Trivia Question was "what was the first year the Brewers finished above .500," and I thought to myself "who gives a crap?" Then I realized that in 5 years, we probably won't give a crap if the Brewers finished above .500 in 2005 or not. Of course, if we don't finish above .500 before then, maybe we'll care, but if we don't finish above .500 in the next 5 years we might have a hard time caring about the Brewers period at that point. They just have too much going for them right now for that to happen. It's disappointing because we had 2 games to close it out and couldn't, and I once thought the Brewers needed this win from a mental standpoint. But we'll be fine. The offseason will be fun. And next season will hopefully be more fun.
  4. If we PH him 9th, Prince could hit a 2-out, 3-run homer. Where's Joe Table (Jose Mesa)?
  5. Is Damian really so tired that he couldn't perform better than Moeller today? Are we saving him for tomorrow?
  6. Apparenly, we're keeping him in to get him the win, according to Bill. He's been at his worst today. Get Nomar? Keep in Cappy to get him the win? Really? We're more concerned about getting Cappy win number 19 (not 20) than getting the Brewers win number 82? I doubt it.
  7. I just dug out an old mesh-back, ball&glove logo hat. I'm looking for every edge we can get right now.
  8. I gotta hunch Cappy is cooked. Doubling his career HRs allowed to lefties in his last 2 starts probably isn't a coincidence. I believe he's 4th in the majors in pitches thrown this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we pinch-hit for him in the 4th.
  9. Klement's has it all figured out. Most brat lovers enjoy opera and theater. Not having to deal with their crap for 6 months is the best part of the upcoming offseason.
  10. No more Bay? Look at this line-up of turds. We NEED to beat them today.
  11. I'm gonna say this while no one is paying attention because I'm somewhat ashamed given that I spent a good year trashing this guy, but I really wish we could have Helms back next year to play the same role he plays this year. He's been a nice fill-in at 1st and 3rd, and an EXCELLENT pinch hitter. There's no way he's worth the money we'd have to pay him to do that, and he wouldn't be satisfied doing it either, but I doubt the guy we get to fill his spot will be as good in his role. Hats off to Wes. Also, that was a nice little 2 inning send-off for Santos. It was shades of the first 2 1/2 months of the season when he did everything the team could have asked from him. It's too bad it all came crashing down...again. Boy, we must be getting crushed. I'm getting sappy about all our bad players.
  12. This was like 15 minutes (and 3 runs) ago, but Firkin is right. Hall didn't get out of the box fast at all. Hall is generally the most fired-up guy on the team, but his lack of hustle hurt him there.
  13. Stupid game note: I was at the game in the left field bleachers, and in one of the later innings, some bonehead behind us tossed one of the big cardboard Overbay O's, and it flew down onto the field like a saucer and hit Carlos right in the butt. To the idiot's credit, it really was an amazing shot, but Carlos did NOT look happy. Everyone snitched the culprit out when Lee was looking, the guy was immediately escorted from the game, and it didn't take long for the crowd to cheer Lee up (he seems to enjoy interacting with the fans). Anyway, on the way out to the field in the top of the 9th, I just happened to see Overbay lobbing a ball and hitting Carlos in the backside when he was about halfway between first and second. Looks like they were having some fun with it. It wasn't mentioned in the game log, so I thought I'd mention it. And I was at the game when they moved above .500!!
  14. The Brewers are 0-5 in the 2nd half when they have a chance to go above .500. The Brewers are 1-4 in games when I am in attendance this year. The Brewers are at .500, and I will be in attendance tomorrow. Am I crazy for still being optimistic?
  15. I dunno. Pit 11, Mil 10 was a pretty bad game for the bullpen too.
  16. Good thing there are only like 15 fans there tonight. This is terrible.
  17. For as much grief as Kane Davis and others get on here, Eveland sure gets off the hook easy. He still has a bright future and he's had some key outings, but I don't feel comfortable thinking about him as a 5th starter right now. His WHIP is JDLResque. Wise? What was that?
  18. Man, I love Bill Hall's fire. Say what you want about the guy, but working that count full and then getting the 2-run single...he could hardly contain himself on his way to first. Then watching him trying to get everyone fired-up after stealing 3rd was awesome (I don't care at this point if it was a weird time to steal 3rd). I just like seeing some emotion, especially if it affects them positively and doesn't get the best of them. Also, note that Cirillo vs Dempster was the same match-up earlier this year that ended up with Cirillo getting rung-up on a bad pitch to end the game in a 5-4 loss, and then he got into an exchange with an ump. Must have felt especially good to get that hit. Also, I hate to point this out because tomorrow is still a very important game, but that clinches the season series with the Cubs. We need another win tomorrow; hopefully a blow-out to rest the pen. All those early mistakes culminated in one of the greatest endings of the year. It wasn't fair to Turnbow, but it was a lot more fun this way. Needless to say, I'M FIRED-UP!!!
  19. Man, I hate this ump. But at least he called it a strike before next week.
  20. I'm OK with that. Brady leads off now. The only problem is that it was such an obvious steal situation that he didn't have a chance.
  21. And I don't know how many times I've said this this season: Thank GOD for Brady Clark.
  22. If this team was just *average* defensively, there's no way a run scores last inning. Between Jenkins not being able to get to that one (injury), Weeks not making the play on Murton's hit, and Miller not putting out Burnitz at the plate, you'd think we could have made ONE of those plays. Now, we're losing because the pitcher has 2 RBIs. It's hard to win these games.
  23. 30136 is awfully low for a Cubs series. Probably a combination of the time of year, and the fact that they are a pretty crappy $100 Mil team.
