Quotes - question

Posted

I have asked this before. Someone was gracious enough to explain it to me. But I forgot and now I can't find the thread.

How do you use quotes and add the "John Doe wrote:" to it? I do remember thinking that I would never remember the sequence and being surprised that it was not soemthing that was easier (like some icon or something I could just click on), not believing that everyone goes though this sequence of instructions when quoting someone. Thanks.

To get the above results, I clicked on "quote" in the lower right corner of your original post.

In this case, I left the whole quote as it was, but you can edit a really long quote box (as is encouraged by your staff and moderators), just by putting your cursor in the box of quoted material and deleting whatever's not relevant.

Does that answer your question? If it's of any comfort, it took me a while to figure it out for myself (which is my fault, not 1992casey's).

Thanks hawing, that's a much easier explainiation than what someone gave me before. The explaination I got was something like:

//:[person's name]//: text of quote.....or some goofy thing like that. I knew there had to be an easier way of doing it.

It's that common 42-year-old, section-217 Brewer-fan bond we have. That's why my explanation makes sense to you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Reply #1 in the quote guidelines thread (available at the top of most board pages), shows some screen captures of how to edit quotes in the WYSIWYG editor.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
