Shea Hillenbrand

Pure speculation here but am I the only one who thinks that Shea could make somewhat of a decent comeback in the majors? He would definitely be an upgrade over any platoon involving Hall at the hot corner and could be had on a small, one year deal. Perhaps even a minor league deal? If he could put up an OBP over .330, he could serve as a solid bridge to Gamel. Thoughts?

His career OBP is .321 and his career walk rate is worse than Hart's was this year. Maybe a minor league deal with a chance to earn a spot on the bench.

Hillenbrand was a pretty mediocre to bad fielder and he's likely lost more range with age. Maybe a backup 1B/3B/PH - perhaps a corner OF slot - I think he ran okay, but I don't recall. He's a good contact guy, however, but doesn't take any walks. As pointed out, worse than Hart.

I wouldn't put the words "solid" and "Shea Hillenbrand" in the same sentence, myself.

I hear Russell Branyan is available.

By many accounts, Shea Hillenbrand is a guy of questionable character.

Add to that his inability to take 4 balls and I'd pass.

Questionable character is one of the nicest things I've ever seen written about the guy. Most things can't be posted. Poison in the clubhouse is probably the only way I can phrase it without being banned from the site for inappropriate language.
