I heard he injured his arm signing the contract and is now out for the year, surgery required.

Not a bad deal for the Indians. If he looked good in his physical and pitched well to end the year, a 1.5 million dollar risk makes sense. I'll be rooting for him to do well so Yankee fans can do some more scoffing.

1.5 million isn't bad for a player who has the potential to be your #3 starter. That's good upside.

MLB Network said it's $1.5 million guaranteed with $5.3 million in incentives. Not so sure it's that great of a deal just yet.

Well if he hits those incentives, which I'm not sure what they are, but I'll assume that would make him worth even more than 6 million and even more bang for the buck. I could be wrong though because I don't know the language of the contract.

I'd say this is quite the bargain. Just think, the Brewers could have gotten 3 Pavanos for one David Riske, or 8 Pavanos for one Jeff Suppan!

wow, I'm not sure what people are seeing. That's a lot of money for a guy that hasn't done much in his career. He's had two seasons logging even 150 innings out of 11 years. This is as close to a guaranteed wasting of $1.5 million as I've seen.

Kris Benson is still available and, according to his agent, "is as flexible as he has ever been". He must be somewhat happy that someone threw 1.5 at Pavano.
