Didn't see this anywhere else. A real solid move for the Giants if you ask me. There is no less of a sure thing than a starting pitcher in the low minors, even if he is a swell prospect.

Boo... this is the type of deal I wouldn't mind Melvin making, a LHP with a low 90s FB that has good movement who knows how to pitch.

The really surprising aspect of the trade (based on the link) is that the Indians are expected to call up Andy Marte to play 1b instead of LaPorta.
