  1. Yet to win a game since unveiling the new jerseys…At what point do we start burning them in effigy?
  2. I know the way that we don't say "Wisco" ever. I'm still coming to grips with the people who say "Sconnie" non-ironically....this is just a bridge too far.
  3. Getting them into the bullpen this early never hurts!
  4. Shows up on the DirecTV App for streaming. EDIT: Full list at the link.
  5. A waiver claim puts the Packers on the hook for the remainder of the Diggs contract, which is a non-starter for me.
  6. Anyone else feel better about last week after seeing the Bengals beat Pittsburgh?
  7. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/william-contreras-mlb-milwaukee-brewers-baseball LFG.
  8. Cubs having a chance to make a statement in the opening game of a 5-game set against the Crew....and the Brewers shut them out! Let's stretch the Division lead even further ...unless they manufacture some rain-outs to prolong the misery (and avoid the Miz, again).
  9. How fitting is it that the George Webb game happens when the Optimism Thread is on Page 12? 🍔
  10. It's hard to single guys out on the team, considering they keep winning no matter who is out of the lineup. (I would have thought the drop-off from Chourio's injury would be felt, but the record doesn't show it.) That said: 1) Contreras - I worry about a falloff in the post-season, given the number of games he plays - and plays through a significant injury - but he's one of the best players in the league at a premium position. 2) Peralta - When the pitching staff had more question marks than answers early on, he was the constant. 3) Collins - Didn't know what he was doing on the team in April and May. Since then, it's hard to imagine this team being where they are without him. 4) Megill - Even if Devin Williams hadn't imploded in the Big Apple, we replaced an All-Star closer with...an All-Star closer. 5) Frelick - I don't know that the team's maximum-effort mindset comes from how he plays....but I know they didn't have it before Sal established himself.
  11. He's going to be a FA in the off-season. He's not wrong to presume he gets paid better as a bottom-of-the-rotation starter ("innings eater") than a long-reliever. I have a tough time getting upset about a guy asking for a trade in this situation. Likewise, I have little problem with the Brewers taking the first decent offer, and letting the White Sox flip him in a month to a playoff hopeful looking to bolster their rotation. It's how we got Civale to begin with.
  12. Giving me faith the team is turning a corner. Getting our pitching back has a cascading benefit.
  13. I'll be among the unwashed (but hopefully not rained-upon) masses in Green Bay tomorrow, so I probably won't be watching the forum as closely as I would most draft nights. Decided to post my thoughts in terms of how I'd feel if the Packers draft Player X. Cartwheels: Anyone projected in the Top 10 (though confused if it's a QB or Jeanty) Tet McMillan, WR, Arizona (in my head, he's Herman Moore 2.0, making this offense more dynamic in the red zone, as well as being a #1 option this offense hasn't had since Davante left) Happy: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan (almost certainly requires a trade up) Emeka Ebuka, WR, Ohio State (productivity is tough to ignore) Trade down for good value, as long as no one I've already named is still on the board Walter Nolen, DT, Mississippi (talent and decent value at 23) Will Johnson, CB, Michigan (assumes he checked out physically during his on-site visit) Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan (NT of the future, especially after losing Slayton to Free Agency) Not thrilled, but I get it: Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State (LT with his pedigree would not be available but for the injury....essentially giving up on Morgan as a tackle though) Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon (is to Devonte Wyatt what Simmons is to Jordan Morgan at LT) Matthew Golden, WR, Texas (4.29 40s don't grow on trees, and is absolutely the take-the-cover-off profile of a team need, but I saw enough dropped passes from last year's WR corps to not be rooting for this pick) Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas (4.39 40, but scouting questions his top-end speed and ability to play outside) Mykel Williams, DE, Georgia (pass rush is a need, but I'm hoping the new DL coach can get more out of the talent on-hand) Shavon Revel, Jr., CB, East Carolina (there's injuries, and there's a torn ACL...too much of a gamble for my liking at a speed position) Trey Amos, CB, Mississippi (feels like a reach at 23, but a good option if they trade back) Donovan Ezeiruaku, Edge, Boston College (If they draft him, then Halfley's reports must be glowing.) Actively dislike: Luther Burden, WR, Missouri (size and speed are there, but Packers don't need a slot WR) Shemar Stewart, DE, Texas A&M (athletic edge without production....we have enough of that already) Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina (actually like the player, but the deepest position on the roster right now)
  14. Vinny Capra is on a pace for 162 Home Runs! (God, I love Opening Day.)
  15. I don't know that you can say the Badgers only go for 1-year guys, considering Klesmit and McGee (and Storr for that matter) all had multiple years of eligibility when transferring to Madison.
  16. The Badgers are positioned to keep getting bites at the apple, to use the phrase we've become accustomed to on the baseball side of things. Their willingness to open up the offense, and embrace new players in the transfer portal, plus the University's being reasonably competitive in NIL means they will be good enough to make the tournament in most years. This year's team was a legitimate contender for the Final Four, but it came up a bit short, and ran into a lower seed that hit 3s at an above-average rate. Realistically, this team is going to be in about the same place in the NIL era that they were before: they're never going to have a bench full of All Americans like Duke, Kansas, UConn, or Kentucky, but they can still bring together enough talent to be competitive with those teams in a 1-and-done setting.

  18. That’s about as bad a start as possible.
  19. I expect Jalen Hurts will be a bit rusty, on account of all the missed practice time in the concussion protocol. To me, that gives GB the proverbial puncher's chance...but you really hope it includes: If not a fast start, then just avoiding early turnovers and getting behind more than 1 score. Packers Receivers holding on to the ball (during and after the catch)! Keep Saquon contained. He'll get his touches & yards, but avoid giving up the chunk plays that bring the crowd into it (and lead to scores). Pass rushers finishing the play, rather than letting Jalen break the pocket and scramble for first downs. Hoping for Doubs and Tucker Kraft to elevate the offense, and for the Packers secondary to limit the number of deep balls to the Eagles receivers. I wish I felt more comfortable predicting a win, but they're not coming into the playoffs with the momentum I'd like.
  20. Wow. Happy to see them returning the favor to Arizona with the Home-and-Home.
  21. A major variable on winnability of games in the second half is the health of Jaire Alexander. 2 of the 3 Packers losses came with him unavailable due to his injuries (...and the 3rd game was a Rams team without its top 2 WRs). Hoping the bye week worked wonders, because the pass defense is better when he is on the field.
  22. I think it has more to do with Evan Williams forcing his way into the nickel. Nixon wasn't playing poorly in nickel, so they moved him to boundary with Williams on the slot receiver. Williams is now taking starting reps from Bullard, who is now playing the in the slot. Credit to the new DC for putting his best DBs on the field, even if it's a little unconventional to run 3 safeties in nickel.
