Should the Brewers keep both Lopez and Weeks?

Lopez is a luxury that this team just cant afford. i would offer arbitration because I dont think he would accept it but if he does I would trade him. There is a reason why he has been dumped time and time again; his attitude over the long haul just isnt very good.

I would love to see Lopez in a Brewers uniform next year. Depth is a great thing to have and trading chips are a great thing to have as well. If we could turn some combination of Weeks/Lopez/Hart/Hardy into a #3 type starter, the Brewers could be back into contention next year. That will be easier said than done, though. I think Javier Lopez would be a guy to target in the offseason. I wonder if Gamel, Lopez, and Hart would be enough because it looks like the Braves want offense in return if they trade him.

You realize that Lawrie finished this season at AA Huntsville, right? No chance he opens next year at BC.

Lawrie didn't earn a promotion to Huntsville. He was bumped for a week or two to see some advanced pitching before heading over to play the World Cup with Canada.

 

Eric Farris played 2B in Brevard County this year. He stole 70 bases. He batted .298.

 

Farris is going to receive a well deserved bump to AA Huntsville while Lawrie still has to prove his worth in A+.

Lopez has been on 1B so often he may as well build a house there. The Brewers don't have anyone else like that on their roster. He is the lead-off guy this team needs. I don't know where this "not hustling" thing got started, but he is playing with bad wheels. Any player will pick his moments to really bust it hard in that case.

You definitly have to at least offer Lopez arby even though he probably won't accept... even moreso because I've never been more sure of anything in my life that Rickie Weeks will not play 130 games for the Brewers next year.

I'd rather go into the season with Weeks, McGeehee, Counsell and Gamel filling 3b/2b, and having a backup SS... than having Lopez and his awful defense playing 2b and backing up SS.
