Hinske as reserve IF/OF?

Looking at the present roster (just past non-tender deadline) & payroll situations, is Eric Hinske someone who might be a fit as a reserve 1B/3B & 5th OF (corners)? He's versatile, hits w/ some power, & surely wouldn't be too expensive unless his year on the Yankees has completely skewed his perspective on what's realistic (AND someone would actually pay him at Yankee proportions).

To me, that he's from WI is incidental compared to actual baseball considerations. But if he'd be a decent fit, maybe his roots would help make the Brewers an appealing team for him.

Thoughts?

Hinske would be a nice player to pair with Counsell on the bench. I honestly haven't thought about him at all but it makes some sense. I've been hoping for Jerry Hariston Jr. but if Counsell signs Hinske would fill more of a need.

The entire bench right now is lefthanded with the possible exception of Heether and after last year's experiment of having a completely untested Nelson, I don't think you want your one righthanded bat being a guy with zero major league experience.

Hinske's fine, but they need a righthanded bench bat first.
