All of the details aren't in yet, but it sounds like the best player Boston gave up is Iglesias. If that's true, this is really a fantastic move by Boston, they get Peavy through next season, and they kept their best young players in the process.

 

Coming into the season, Iglesias was ranked as the #9 prospect in Boston's system, behind Xander Bogaerts, a much better player who plays the same position, and also behind several pitchers...who are all apparently still with the Red Sox.

 

Edit: Yep, Detroit filled their pending hole at SS, and the Red Sox got Peavy. The White Sox got Boston to assume 100% of Peavy's money, and they got Avisail Garcia, who is a good prospect, but I think Boston did fantastic.
