Brandon Beachy (ATL) may need Tommy John surgery again

Looks like Beachy has a good chance of under going his second Tommy John surgery.

That's brutal, losing both Beachy and Medlen to TJ. They're lucky Santana was available.

 

It just goes to show you how essential pitching depth is.

What depth they have will be tested now. Not sure it's enough. They were missing a ton of quality innings already with the departure of Hudson and Maholm via FA.

The guy has only thrown like 250 or so innings in the majors to date. I'm not sure I would have been counting on him to begin with.

This B-Ref page lists all Tommy John surgery patients and notes anyone who has had more than one. Among the more recent players with multiple surgeries are Zambrano, Joakim Soria, Capuano. Also of note according to the list, Jose Rijo apparently had 5 TJ surgeries!
