Jemile Weeks @ 16th for 2008 draft-Keith Law

Posted
Apparently Jemile Weeks is ranked at 16th according to Keith Law for the 2008 draft. I would post the rankings but I think it is premium because I got it of the Cub's ESPN board.

I hope the Brewers redraft him. He's the guy I most wish they had signed of all their recent picks who got away. He had a down year this year, but scouts love his tools and he has great projectability. I think he has a good chance to end up being better than his older brother.

Well it's certainly a situation where drafting him may be considered an investment outside of whatever talent evaluations they might have. If Rickie can get on track batting average wise then. Getting to play with his brother maybe the kind of enticement to keep him around longer. And there are some fairly strong teammate bonds on this team that could snowball to help keep other key components here.

Slight side track but is it not possible that Prince isn't so much concerned about the huge mega pay day as he is torqued off that his dad ripped him off? Which is to say with that bonus money gone he went for the complete opposite type of agent?

Here's the link. Its an Insider article, so you'll need to have that to access. The article doesn't say much, just lists the top 20 prospects for next year. Weeks is indeed at 16.
