  1. I agree with Patrick. No prospect ranking system is going to be perfect but there's no reason to believe Baseball America is biased against the Brewers. I think they do a good job covering minor league baseball.
  2. I hope Neal is also dumped. He's looked horrible and I don't believe a chucker like him ever makes a good mentor for young players. All he'll teach them is to shoot a lot so they can trick a team into giving them a contract because they're 'proven scorers.'
  3. This page says it's supposed to be their addresses (under #6): http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/how-sign-your-will-the-will-signing-ceremony.html edit: whoops, didn't realize this was asked a few days ago. Hopefully everything went well.
  4. That helped too, for sure.
  5. Haha, what a comeback! Amazing what not having Gary Neal playing PG will do for a team.
  6. I know it's only been a game and a half, but I think it's fair to say that this team is going 0-82.
  7. I listened to The Velvet Underground & Nico and Live at Max's Kansas City so many times. I'll Be Your Mirror is a very beautiful song, which seems like an extremely inadequate way to describe it but I can't do no better. 71's not bad but I was hoping he would last a bit longer.
  8. I had the exact same thought. Things are not looking too good right now.
  9. Sad to hear about him dying. He'll always be "the Dream" to a certain generation of Milwaukeeans. A couple years ago I was talking with an older guy about basketball and I mentioned "the Dream" (meaning Hakeem Olajuwon) and he was like, "oh yeah, Dean Meminger!" Wow, I just saw in the JS's obituary for Dean that Marquette was undefeated at the Milwaukee Arena during his playing career (46-0). Not bad.
  10. That's where closed captions come in very handy. It's nice to not have to be stressed out about understanding what some mush-mouthed cockney is saying and worrying that whatever it was might have been integral to the plot. It can be a little annoying when watching comedies because the punchline'll be spoiled sometimes but I still prefer to use them when watching shows featuring people with thick accents. Makes the shows much more enjoyable, imo.
  11. The Inbetweeners Movie- if you're British, you probably saw it but it grossed $36,000 (yeah, thousand) in the US.
  12. Thanks for the help everybody! A couple questions about the Mac Air. When did the latest version come out? I seem to remember new Macs often are released in September or October, but I may be misremembering. And also, is it worth the extra $150 for the faster processor? Also, msc, that same laptop that you bought seems to be on sale on woot today. How do you like it so far?
  13. Hi everybody- I was just wondering if people have any recommendations for laptops that they like. My wife is starting grad school this fall and she wants a new laptop to use for school. Nothing too outlandish, she wants to spend $1,500 or so (less would be fine, of course). It's been a few years since we bought our last laptops and I haven't been keeping up with advances in computers and changes in the market as well as I should have been so I'm not sure where to start. In the past, Macs have been her preferred platform (mostly because of the relative lack of viruses) but she's willing to use whatever. She wants a light laptop because she will have to carry it around with a bunch of textbooks and so forth but is otherwise open to anything. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  14. At least those guys were likable.
  15. Ok, seriously, what is going on?
  16. I once heard that Dubuque, Iowa was very scenic. Apparently, one of the convenience stores there recently acquired a new dumpster that is well worth checking out (it could also possibly double as lodgings for an enterprising traveler). I was also told that the Hormel plant is especially nice, as these things go. Apparently Dubuque is a very desirable vacation spot. I can't vouch for any of this personally, unfortunately. It's just what I was told. You can bet I plan on visiting as soon as I can though.
  17. No, I knew you guys just meant to take it somewhere else for troubleshooting. Sorry, I didn't make that clear. It's just that either way I'm left with the possible solution of buying a new router, which is not really something I want to do. Not because I'm super attached to the one I have now or even because of the expense but just because it does work for the rest of my stuff so I don't really want to disrupt that just to try to get the ipad online. Plus, before I bought a new router, I would kind of want an Apple person to explain to me what it was that was going wrong (or at least offer a plausible explanation or two) so I could be reasonably confident it wouldn't happen even with a new router. Something about the reasoning of "well, we don't know, why not buy yet another of our products and see if that fixes things" kind of rubs me the wrong way. Especially because you only get 2 weeks to return something to the Apple store. My family was visiting last week so I really only got to mess around with the iPad on the 16th and 17th and then again yesterday and today. I'm cutting it real close if I buy a new router now.
  18. Baldkin- I did see something like that. I checked and my router's firmware is up to date. It's not a very old router, I bought it in December 2010 so it's barely a year old. thebruce- no, I haven't taken the iPad anywhere. I got it solely for home use (just to watch games and browse the internet) so I didn't plan on taking it anywhere else (except maybe an occasional road trip). My network seems fine with the other 9 things I have hooked up to it, including the apple tv I bought the same day I got the iPad. I mean, there are hiccups once in awhile (I'll sometimes get kicked off xbox live or whatever) but I thought they were nothing to worry about.
  19. I'm going to have to return this piece of garbage iPad, unfortunately. It won't stay connected to my wi-fi no matter what I do. I called Apple customer service like thebruce and casey suggested. They were nice but mostly only gave me the old "IT Crowd" line of "have you tried turning it off and on again?" I had already tried that multiple times. I was a bit disappointed that no more help was forthcoming. I could buy a new router but it seems crazy to reward Apple for their failure by buying another of their products, plus there is no guarantee that would fix the problem anyway.
  20. thanks for the pairing suggestion casey. I feel a bit foolish that I hadn't thought of that. I paired my desktop with its remote and that solved the problem. Still having the bizarre and annoying problem of the ipad not recognizing that it is on the internet though. This afternoon we listened to the Brewers game and a couple others over mlb.tv on the ipad. It streamed that audio with no dropouts for like 5 hours. But if you try browse the internet of the app store and just read an article for a minute, when you're done, the internet doesn't work until the airport is turned off and then on again. Super frustrating.
  21. On the bright side, the only problem I really have with the Apple TV is that the remote also controls my desktop, which actually is pretty annoying. I don't want to have to keep my computer turned off (instead of just leaving it asleep) but I guess I'll deal with it.
  22. Hmm. So, I (actually, my wife) picked one up this morning. I was too asleep to go with her at 6, she's a little mad about that. Oops. Anyway, it seems much less intuitive than most Apple stuff, not to mention less intuitive than Android. My bigger problem though is that the internet connection continually stops working. I mean, every 5 minutes it stops, even though, according to the thing itself, it's getting full bars from my router. I have a lot of other things connected to the router at a given time and none of them experience this issue. So, we have to keep going into the iPad setting and turning the AirPort off and then back on, which is kind of unacceptable. And we bought an Apple TV too so we could do the mirroring, which sounded cool. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be what I thought. Pretty much the only thing you can mirror, apparently, is stuff on iTunes, which you can just play directly on the Apple TV, so who cares? I don't get what the point of that is. Very disappointed so far.
  23. So, I'm going tomorrow morning to try to get 1 or 2 (hopefully that's not overly optimistic). I'm leaning towards starting with just 1 to see if we like an iPad but you never know what will happen once we get in the store. Anyway, what size would people recommend getting? I'm leaning towards the middle one (32 gb, I think) just because 16 gb seems a little too small but I would feel kind of sick paying $200 extra for 48 GB of storage. What kind of experiences have people had with filling up their iPads?
  24. Too bad both Marquette and Wisconsin played pretty dreadfully in their conference tourneys. Will it affect either of their seedings much?
  25. I love to see the Bucks beat the Knicks. Same with the Bulls and a few other teams. I don't necessarily have a philosophical objection to tanking but I want the Bucks to beat the Knicks every time they play.
