  1. I never minded Tom, and overall I've always felt that McCalvy, Rosiak, Sammon, & Tom made a pretty good coverage team. Haudricourt was entertaining from a Twitter snark perspective, I can get the in-depth news & analysis from the others. Curt is a good hire, though.
  2. “Show us that million-dollar arm, because I got a good idea about that five-cent head of yours” To me, you send him home for the playoffs. If you want to be petty, don't give him a playoff share. If you want to use his character as a reason to trade him, other teams are going to lowball the team with offers - it not like this is something only the Brewers know about. So I think everyone just cools off over the winter and hopes he's good next spring. Or, Gus the "stray" dog appears at the stadium to rally the team through the playoffs.
  3. Vinnie Rottino also had one of the best BF.net nicknames of all time when he was a prospect who could play all the positions - The Kama Sutra!
  4. Yep. Also really hoping JJ's shoulder weakness isn't like Thornburg's shoulder weakness that turned out to be "miss a season" shoulder weakness.
  5. Omg this! Leroy Butler and Gary Ellerson are two of the dumbest people I've ever heard. Fun fact - Gary Ellerson was my high school track coach in the early 90s. If there's one group of people to which an ex-NFL player can relate, it's suburban kids out for track.
  6. I'm not getting into the middle of this pissing contest, but I will say that the bonus pool money associated with the comp pick seems to be undervalued, particularly when you're picking in the back of round one. Having extra pool money to throw at someone who drops (particularly because of signability) is huge. Time will tell on Claudio, but my assumption is that Stearns got the pulse of the RP market and found it likely that the guys he wanted would price themselves out of what MIL wanted to pay, making the math work on this deal. We shall see...
  7. Ideally 55ish (I'm 42 at the moment). That would get us to the point where our last kid is through college and (in theory) off the payroll. If my wife stays in her current job until then, she'll qualify for retiree health care, which is the key. If that changes, we'd likely have to work a little longer. I'm self-employed, so I could continue to work on a limited basis to keep some cash coming in if necessary.
  8. Never mind, just sold on Stubhub. Cheers!
  9. Anyone need general parking for Game 6? Since I'll either be drinking to celebrate being one game from the World Series or drowning sorrow, I figured I should Uber to the game. $20 - Paypal or Venmo.
  10. Please be a quick Brewers win tonight. I have Foo Fighters tickets and I really don't want to be checking my phone constantly during the show. Or just jump out 8-0. That would work too.
  11. I got the credit on 10/9, and I agree it's probably based on the credit card company. AMEX for the win!
  12. I don't think that moves the needle for any team - who's going to want to add $20MM+ to their payroll and take on three guys that were platooned & didn't even make the postseason roster?
  13. I believe they're technically "obstructed view" if the plate (and/or maybe the mound) is blocked.
  14. I'll preface this by saying that I don't want to argue a point, I'm just genuinely curious about people's opinions. I only get SRO tickets once every few years, so it's not a big deal. I had them for Friday's game, and planned to try to stand on the loge level, near the craft beer stand. In that area, there is a ledge on the railing behind the ADA seating. There were people there who had laid out their rally towels like placemats to mark their spots, and felt that those were now their "reserved spots" for the game. When one of them went for concessions or to the restroom, people were generally good about letting them back in, particularly since they were couples, where one would stay to hold the other's spot. Then there were people who tried to get in as soon as someone left, with the thought being "I have a standing room ticket, and there's room to stand right here." The only issue I had was when I stood behind one the husband of the couples and then people in the ADA section stood up in front of them. The wife tried to move over behind the husband (right where I was standing). I kindly let her know that if she was claiming the rail, she didn't just get to move me out of the way when she wanted a new spot, unless she wanted to give up her spot on the rail. She was not enthused about that option. What are people's thoughts on this?
  15. The Brewers ticketing now uses the ReCaptcha system to verify that I am not a robot. I'm trying to check for tickets released last minute today, but every time I make a selection, I'm forced to click through 10 screens of "click on all the pictures of fire hydrants." before it will actually perform the search.
  16. I mean, it has to be HighHeat19, doesn't it?
  17. Even with the bullpen game in game 1, I'd try to save Peralta for one of the road games, simply because fastballs play up much better than breaking balls at altitude.
  18. I'm the same way - I like to wander, especially if I'm at the game alone. But with the way prices are falling, I'll probably just grab a seat for Friday.
  19. Oh, I'm fine waiting until Friday. I have good seats for Thursday, just want to be in the building for game 2. This is so much easier than the old days when you had to deal exclusively with Craigslist and scalpers in the lot.
  20. Ticket prices appear to be coming down. I've been watching Game 2, SRO was $120 with fees yesterday, now down under $100.
  21. Yep. Or take one of the Steve's / Kelly's / Slim's shuttles into the game and just walk back to Bluemound after the game. You'll likely beat the shuttle, unless you get on the first round.
  22. You're the one who cancelled your season tickets.
