Machado or Goldschmidt for NL MVP? It's very close. Maybe slight edge to Machado right now?

Machado is up 0.8 fWAR in a handful fewer PAs so I give it to him if the award was given today. Manny, as much as I dislike him, has been superhuman this season.

I don’t think any of us want to see Goldschmidt up this inning.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

All things considered, I feel pretty decent about getting a split.  I figured a sweep by the Cards was not unlikely due to how we seemed to be not-hitting.

A split in that series was about the best we could have hoped for.

Eh, we easily could've pulled off last night's game. But a split was my goal going into the series given our injury situation so I'm happy.

Brewers luck out and split the series....YAHOO !!!!

Cardinals luck out and split the series.  They sent their four best starting pitchers at the Brewers while the Brewers sent only one of their four best plus two scrap heap guys and all the Cardinals could get was two games.

I've spent some time perusing Cardinals Twitter and message boards in recent days and they're ironically as down on their team currently as some people on here are for the Brewers....

I don’t know about that.   Alexander has been pitching better than woodruff anyways  Maybe we got lucky with his finger ma jig thingy

But a split is a no harm no foul.    Tough little five game stretch here for us while cards for cubs and marlins.

Throw in the fact that we just aren't playing all that well for quite awhile now, save in Cincy. And that's a bad sign if we're at full strength, but we clearly aren't.

Back from a few pages ago, Ashby & Woodruff ARE coming back. And there will be deal(s) made.

Woodruff is better than Alexander and it isn't even close. Him being injured has been nothing other than unfortunate for us. Yes, Woodruff has a higher ERA than normal (largely driven by his first start in frozen Chicago), but literally every other stat says elite. We will be a significantly better team with him healthy and fronting the rotation alongside Burnes.

And Peralta for the stretch run!

Decided to read the IGT before looking up the score. I would have guessed we were down 7-1 through the first four-plus pages. Y'all are funny sometimes. ?

The sky was falling... until it wasn't. heh

A good win!

Echoing the happiness about a split. I think the Brewers are more talented than the Cards overall, so my feeling is the Brewers will outplay them in the 143 games they don't play each other. Taking 12 of the other 19 off the board is a good thing.
