Both Dike and Bell hit the portal today.  This coming off the heels of the WR coach being hired by Notre Dame, though I would be skeptical if that had anything to do with the transfers.

Bell probably because he isn’t a good fit for the scheme being ran and he has hands of stones and is a poor route runner.

Dike is a bit surprising.

Not sure why Dike regressed this year, but it was clear he did.  I'd take him transferring an indication that he thinks it is the coaching/system and not "him".  So he is probably trying to get to the most advantageous situation for him in his last year to try to get an NFL sniff.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I think it was a combination of his being banged up, and the staff viewing him, when healthy, as more of a deep threat in this offense--and they really don't throw deep all that much. Either way, the "fit" certainly didn't appear to be there.

If he is 100%, I could see him piling up a lot of catches somewhere else. Just not sure how many P5 opportunities will be out there.

I hope he can run because the spread without a QB that can run is a waste of time.

A spread without a QB who is an accurate passer is an even bigger waste.

Most "dual-threat" QBs are single-threat QBs - they can't pass worth a damn.

The big news is that they got 4* DE Willor over Ohio State and his home Maryland and kept 4* DB Xavier Lucas who had a lot of smoke as being flipped by Miami.

I've had moths hovering around my outdoor lighting in the summer that changed direction less than Robert Booker has in the last year or so. If he really commits to the program (meaning actually stays here) they're in great shape there with fellow recruit Grant Stec, Ashcraft returning & the kid from LSU coming over.

As LouEly said, locking up Willor late was a great topper to the class. Also cautiously optimistic about the offensive lineman signed, and the additions at TB.

Mellusi announced he's returning for another season.  That gives the RB room a much needed leader, and he seems to fit the new offense pretty well.

He indeed was a very good fit for what they were trying to do offensively. The young man has had to endure an awful lot of injury issues, even before this most recent one, and I wouldn't have been surprised if he decided enough was enough. He's showing some big-time courage & resiliency, wish him all the luck in the world. He'd be a terrific veteran presence for the incoming tailbacks.

What a stupid waste of a timeout. I hate that.

Then they don’t use one with 12 guys on the field on 4th and 6.  Ended up working out, but if you clearly see he’s not gonna get off the field, save the 5 yards there.

Man, where has this offense been all year.  Takes time with a new QB and new system.  Wish Mordecai had another year, he looks really comfortable today.  Kind of sucks to most likely be going back to a transfer in his first year again next year.

I don't understand not being under center on 4th and one.

I thought they missed an opportunity on 3rd & 1. A straight run, QB draw or another shovel to the TB like the one to Acker earlier could've popped. Fourth & one, they lost a little bit of the surprise element a run would've provided.

Entertaining half.

I think LSU did us a favor by not trying to establish the run early.

I guess you still have the element of relative unknowns stepping up after bowl practices, but for vastly different reasons than before. Curt Neal showed some real chops in the D'Line. Kekahuna, I've seen highlights of him in HS and his elusiveness & "twitchiness" seemed exceptional. Nice to see him display that in his first real opportunity.

Yacamelli & Acker have looked about as good as you could expect.

If we can find a way to get some pressure on the passer it would be huge. But I think it's gonna have to come from blitzing the right people, at the right times. So that's on Tressel. Certainly nice to not have to worry about the dual-threat guy being back there.

Renfroe certainly doesn't look like he's needed to knock off a lot of rust.
