That Mexico-USA game Sunday night in Phoenix is a super hot ticket. Sold out and tickets going for 3-4x face value on the secondary market. Should be a great atmosphere if Mexico can put up a fight.

Overnight games featured Alex Hall going 0-5 with 2 strikeouts in a huge game for Australia, taking down Korea 8-7 with a 3 run jack in the 8th the deciding blow

Panama lost 3-1 to the Netherlands without either Brewer reliever getting action

Wasn't a great showing at the plate for Frelick yesterday. 1-5 with 3 infield pop ups and 2 grounders (one making it through for a single).

Frelick again coming up clutch, middle of the 4th, Italy surrendered a 2-1 lead to 5-2 down, Frelick comes up with 2 runs scored, 2 on, 2 outs, mashes a double to put Italy into a 6-5 lead... he's not striking out at all either

Carlos Rodriguez will be starting for Nicaragua in their WBC opener against Puerto Rico. Awesome moment for the young prospect.

Good to see. Though, strikeouts have never been an issue for him.

Michele Vassalotti is starting for Italy tonight against Panama. He had a 2.64 ERA for the Mudcats last year in A ball.

Think Vassalotti is probably done after his 3rd inning. If so his final line is 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO. He gave up a monster HR to Jose Ramos (a Dodgers prospect). Solid job from him.

Piazza sent him out for the 4th. Walk, Double Play, Strikeout. Final line 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO

Panama ends up winning 2-0. Sal Frelick went 2-4 with a 2B for Italy. Javy Guerra picked up the save for Panama going 1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO.

Gotta love when a guy (Elian Miranda) who was released after hitting .130 in High-A ball last year hits a game-tying homer off the Cubs’ $25 million SP-1 (Marcus Stroman). Baseball is back!

Thoroughly impressed with Carlos Rodriguez today, for a guy never pitching above A+ taking on basically a major league roster and looking like he belongs.... WOW!!

Impressive outing for Carlos Rodriguez. Absolutely looked the part against an MLB lineup. 4 IP, 2 H (both seeing eye ground balls), 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO, 1 HBP. The run should have never scored. Nicaragua's 2B blew a routine double play which would have ended the inning. Here's the clip of the blown double play.
