It is worth noting that many of these contracts are ‘bad contracts.’ In other words, the teams are receiving negative or minimal value in exchange for the spending.

Anthony rendon with 38 million... Yikes!

Yelich tbf isn't anywhere near as bad as some of these, 26 million isn't that huge in today's market, but also surprised that JT is worth so much less, he's such a catcher upgrade

Yelich is easily the 4th worst contract on this page. Rendon, Stanton, Cabrera are worse but Cabrera expires after this season. 

The biggest issue with Yelich is he already is providing negative value compared to his contract and has 5 more seasons of team control so if he's providing negative value compared to his contract at 30 how bad is it going to look when he's 34-36.

It'll definitely look bad, but I'd also surmise that inflation will mean the big contracts are bigger at that point too

Still the brewers at the time got a below market deal for an almost two time MVP and while it may look bad now, at the time it looked like an amazing deal

26 million is HUGE to Milwaukee though.  In fact, it is FREAKING HUGE to Milwaukee!

None of that matters right now.  We are screwed for another 5.5 seasons, that is what truly matters.

Yelich may not be the worst contract but his contract hampers the team more than the rest of these guys except Miggy who retires after this season.
