The High-A Timber Rattlers aim to extend their series lead to 3-0 with a victory at home against Peoria. Starting RHP Cameron Wagoner (9.00 ERA in 32 IP) really needs to turn a corner. SS Eric Brown Jr. leads the team with 21 stolen bases and has a 20 BB / 25 K ratio.

Quinton Low just pitched one inning in his return, striking out two but allowing one run (single, stolen base, passed ball, infield RBI single). The Mudcats have scored one as well on a Kaylan Nicasia double and Jesus Chirinos RBI single.

RHP Miguel Guerrero pitched the 2nd inning, LHP Nate Peterson the 3rd. 1-1 score.

For some reason that run is being counted as an earned run. Not that it matters but the poor scorekeeping this week has been very bothersome to me for some reason.

Switch-hitting Blake Perkins homered to lead off Nashville’s game, but Charlotte responded with 2 runs on 3 hits off Caleb Boushley in the bottom of the frame. Down 2-1; work to do.

Nashville up 5-2 top of four as six consecutive singles from Blake Perkins, Luis Urias, Jon Singleton, Alex Jackson, Cam Devanney and Tyler Naquin plated four runs in the third.

Biloxi just underway and still scoreless bottom of two.

Chourio doubled and Quero singled in their first PAs while Christian Mejias has K’d three through his first two frames.

Posted

Wisco also just underway trailing 2-0 top of two.

TRats loaded the bases bottom of one on Robert Moore, Ben Metzinger and Joe Gray Jr. singles, but Eduardo Garcia couldn’t cash them in.

Ethan Murray just hit a HR to right center easily clearing the wall by a good 10+ feet. That's an impressive power display. He's been extremely hot the last month and is looking like a guy we should all certainly be keeping a closer eye on.

405ft from Murray.

It all started with an error.

After retiring Jose Sibrian and Hedbert Perez to start the sixth inning, Luis Lara ROE’d, moved to second on a PB, scored on a Kay-Lan Nicasia single, Luke Adams walked, a balk moved them both up a base then a Jheremy Vargas single scored them both. Now Jadher Areinamo has walked with a Gregory Barrios single knocking another in.

Now 11-4 Carolina with two on two out top of six.

Was at 284/429/448 (149 wRC+) with 15 BB | 21 K over his last 84 PAs entering tonight.

A bit over eager trying to stretch it to a double. Moore reached on a HBP to open the next inning and was easily caught stealing (think Moore is a sneaky slow type guy like Luis Urias)

Gotta wonder where the real Tyson Miller went. Third straight disastrous outing for him (1 with Brewers, 2 in Nashville).

Entered with 2-on, 2-out and Nashville leading 8-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning. Exited lucky to still have an 8-7 lead going into the 8th inning. 3 hits and a hit-by-pitch. Final batter swung at a 1-0 pitch outside the zone to fly out.

Hang on Sounds!!!

My goodness Luis Urias is a very slow human being. Singleton hit a flyball to deep left center field off the wall with 2 outs and Urias was thrown out at home by about 5 feet.

Looking at his StatCast running numbers is not pretty.

Steady decline from 28.0 ft/s (75th percentile) in 2018 down to 26.4 ft/s (29th percentile) in 2022. That’s like catcher/DH slow.

For comparison, Joey Bart and Eloy Jimenez are at 26.3 ft/s so far this year.

Some nice relief work in Carolina with Shane Smith going two scoreless, now at 37 K | 9 BB over 21.1 IP.

Tanner Shears struck out a pair and walked one in a scoreless ninth to lower his ERA to 0.52 on the season with 30 K | 15 BB across his 17.1 IP. A solo HR back on May 7th remains his lone run surrendered.
