INF Vinny Capra claimed from Pittsburgh. Options declined on Chafin and Justin Wilson

Depth in case we trade Adames or lose Devanney in Rule 5 draft?

Capra's got just one option year remaining. I didn't see any articles calling him a plus defensive player...just "versatile" mentioned severally. Relatively high BABIPs the past 3 years, but not a big base stealer. Solid BB/K rates past 2 years fits the profile we like.

I expect the Brewers to be very aggressive in claiming players this year. After adding Quero, I can easily see the Brewers will have 8 open 40 man spots after non-tender decisions are done. They have plenty of open spots. Wouldn't surprise me if they claim anyone/everyone who's name crosses Arnold's desk.  He can then just cycle players through these 8-9 spots to keep the best of the group and sneak who he can through to the minors. Its a nice situation for the Brewers to be in.

Capra has some good minor league numbers. Not much different than Owen Miller, Devanney, Toro, Dorrian.  Good chance he could hang around until next spring and be a depth option next year.

On the plus side, had nearly as many walks as strikeouts in triple-A, was in the 97th percentile for swinging strike rate among guys with 200+ triple-A plate appearance last season and was fifth among that same group in line drive percentage, totaling more line drives than ground balls or fly balls, so he came by that BABIP honestly.

On the minus side, in their write-up on the Blue Jays system before the season, Fangraphs listed his position as DH (they list where they project a player to play, not necessarily where he has been playing).

I thought Wilson was pretty good for us? Or was his option a ton of money?

Other Wilson, the one who I believe got reinjured before pitching an inning.

Justin Wilson was reinjured warming up in Atlanta, never pitched an inning for the Brewers. Bryse Wilson is arbitration eligible, he pitched quite a bit better than his peripheral numbers would indicate but certainly an effective low leverage player.

Bryse Wilson was amazing for us.

Justin Wilson spent half the season recovering from TJ. When he returned, he got injured in the bullpen before coming into a game and missed the rest of the season,

Should have posted this on Halloween. Trade or treat! Andrew Chafin, Daniel Norris are my lefties out of the pen. John Curtiss and (World Series Champion) Matt Bush are my righties. Special nod to Dinelson Lamet, Jake Faria, Trevor Rosenthal, Justin Wilson. Jonathan "One Shining Moment" Schoop is manning second base. Andrew Susac is catching. Lol
