Per Seth Cummings (Independent reporter for the Nats) tweets that the Brewers and Nationals are in on Carlos Santana. Also tweeting that a reunion with the Brewers is the most likely destination at this point. A reunion with Carlos makes the most sense, as he provides a decent bat, solid defense, veteran leadership and good clubhouse chemistry.

I can't imagine getting Santana for the DH spot since his glove is so great.  If we resign him, he is our 1B for the 2024 season, end of story.

We get Santana, that pretty much ends any chance of Hoskins, not that we had a shot to begin with...

Preeetttayy boring, but I guess the current front runners for 1B and DH are Jake Bauers and Tyrone Taylor so we need somebody 🤣

Yeah. I was eyeballing Hoskins back in August, and it just seems, that with each passing day, more and more teams are interested in him. I suspect he's gunna get a much bigger deal than his on-field worth.

Santana is a switch -hitting, really good defensive 1B that gives the roster a much-needed veteran presence, and he can still provide some pop hitting in the 5-7 range in the lineup of a good ballclub.  Knowing he won't cost $15M plus a season for multiple years to sign, he makes alot of sense for the Brewers in 2024.  If the team falls on its face, he'd also be a viable deadline trade candidate if the full fledged fire sale is on come July.

That or Black or Wilken are forcing them to trade somebody who is going to be desired regardless the season he's having or pay.  Hoskins contract/years/abilities likely protects the Black/Wilken early Era from beginning.

I'd really enjoy the team just putting Black as your 1b for Opening Day. Find your utility to give him days off and see if he beats Chourio for Roy...(so Chourio can win MVP year 2 or 3)

Except, in our current line-up, he may be hitting 4th...  A contending team just can't afford to do what we did last year.  Adames should be a 5 hitter, but not with our line-up.  Santana should be a 6 or 7 hitter, but not with our line-up.  We sign Santana today, and I wouldn't doubt for a second he hits clean-up.....a lot!
