Yeah. Odd. As he pitched all season at low A. Maybe to help build innings and confidence, and maybe to help the Mudcats win games later in the season.

Now this year he sprints past A+, the stops in Biloxi for a bit and off to Nashville.

Certainly, pitchers are able to improve their offerings as they climb the ladder, but I suspect the improvements to control and command are the real difference-makers. I imagine that there are lots of A-ballers and high draft picks with MLB-caliber stuff. Once they gain some control, they can pitch in A+/AA. Once they harness command, they can be AAA/MLB guys.

I think this is usually the comparison between a guy like Misiorowski, and a guy like Chad Patrick. Patrick has control/command, but the stuff needed to get outs in the bigs is iffy.

We see a guy like Carlos Rodriguez have good enough stuff with control, but really needs to be able to command that stuff in order to get big-league hitters out.

Logan Henderson has been lauded for having stuff since he was drafted.

I was scanning, and I thought for sure he was getting promoted...

Uff da...

With THAT said, this could be a way to cut back on his innings. He's had a prodigious workload (92 IP) for a 19-year-old A-baller...

By the way, Manuel. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Really surprised that Baseball America has ranked the Brewers farm system as 15th best, down from 2nd in their preseason ranking.

BA is really low on a couple of guys and they think Misiorowski is a reliever so that is party why. ESPN has the Brewers 17th. Just absurd. Sure there weren't any breakouts outside of the lower level guys, but there hasn't been total flops to drop them so drastically.

I personally think the Brewers are closer to 10 than 15, but I think we're ignoring the fact that one of the top 3 prospects in baseball in Chourio, and another T100 guy in Ortiz, graduated from the preseason lists... As well as Hall for BA.

While we appreciate the enthusiasm, it's preferred if the Transaction Thread is limited to the actual transaction moves.

There are multiple other threads where discussion points can be posted, from the current prospect voting results thread, the Midseason Prospect Rankings thread, to the "Your _____ Team Threads":

Nashville
Biloxi
Wisconsin
Carolina
Maryvale

Thanks, we know it won't be perfectly maintained going forward, but your consideration will help. All the threads linked above can currently be found on Page One of the Minor League Forum, so each has been updated recently.

Extremely fair point Spencer. I might also be more high on the lower level guys than most and that's OK!

Oh I'm super high on a ton of these guys haha. I just think there are more proven systems with their talent closer to the big leagues at this point, so I get why they're a bit lower right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see them jump right back into that Top 5 range by this time next year.

  • LHP Rob Zastryzny was assigned to the Nashville Sounds from the Milwaukee Brewers to begin his rehab assignment - he pitched a scorless, 27 pitch (16 strikes), 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K inning in his first bit of action versus Indianapolis (8/9)

Milwaukee assigned four very strong players from Team Dos and moved them to Team Uno for the late playoff push, as the four players going back the other way had underperformed and/or had very limited playing time. I had noticed other organizations doing the same on MiLB's transaction sheet in recent days. The MiLB Player Pages are linked so you can specifically see what the first four players listed above have done thus far in 2024. Go Team Prime! (and you also, Team #2)

18 years old, and 2024 numbers that can be called solid in ten relief outings, as the linked player page above indicates.

This may be a case of "there's more to the story", but we likely will never learn more. Best wishes to the Venezuela native.

Only 2 home series left...  Should be fun right before the playoffs.  Wondering what the plans are now for Tayden Hall?  I suppose between him and Burke, one can always DH.

- RHP Rosmel Reyes released by Low-A Carolina

The Venezuelan signed in December 2019 as a 16-year old, but his only season was 2021, as Covid took out 2020 and injuries cost him 2022-2024.

Reyes K’d 30.3% of opposing batters (27 of 89) in 11 relief appearances in the DSL in that lone season, coupled with a 5.50 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 18 IP as 18 walks and 4 HBP cost him.

We hope the now 21-year old Rosmel is fully healthy and wish him luck in whichever opportunities come next.
