Why are people assuming that the bullpen as currently constructed is going to be the same the whole season? If guys get "burned out" or become less effective due to perceived overuse then they bring in more arms. Call ups from the minors, free agency, trades. I see a lot of griping but you have to believe the organization has a plan. Murphy may be "new" but the guys in the front office are not.

Maybe we can wait until July or August to start panicking about running through pitchers instead of April.

I can only speak for myself but I am not assuming that the pitchers in the bullpen will be the same all year. There’s no question that there are plenty of bodies to throw out there but the question is how effective they are going to be.

And I don’t think that looking at how things happening in April might affect what happens in the future is “panicking”. If we aren’t supposed to look to the future maybe this board should be shut down until July or August.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Sure, but in recent history the Brewers have a decent track record of taking guys off the scrap heap and turning them into solid contributors. But the glass remains half empty to most people complaining about bullpen usage.

Of course we don't know the future and there are no guarantees. I would rather spend my time trusting that there will be options available if and when the time comes for needing options and feeling reasonably confident that those options will work out.

You can be confident without saying that anyone who doesn’t share that confidence is panicking.

There are points in between.

Did I quote you? No. You're taking offense at something I didn't accuse you of.

Did I say you were accusing me of anything?

You mentioned “panicking” in connection with expressing an opinion about overuse of the bullpen.

You didn’t quote anyone, but you must have thought somebody in this thread was panicking, and I don’t see that. I see people expressing reasonable and valid opinions.

Semantics. There's plenty of pessimism and that's what I'm pushing back against. If panicking isn't a word that fits extrapolate a word that does and move along.
