Missed almost all of the game today. Saw Blacks' K in the 9th inning & it looked to me that the problem was more him 'coming out of himself' & trying a little too hard to make something happen than anything else. I expected a little better discipline from him there. His past work speaks for itself so it'll come.

Not a big fan of exaggerated leg kicks, but I think the rest of his body is quiet enough & the hands are very quick.

It looked like he was having trouble identifying and laying off the split finger. Teams will get a book on him pretty quick. He'll see a bunch of breaking stuff down now.

Hiura's problem wasn't his leg kick it was his massive upper cut swing.  The uppercut is what caused him to not be late but to completely whiff on pitches.  Even when he cut down on his leg kick he was still missing.  Why may you ask?  It is because of the uppercut swing.  Fixing Hiura's leg kick did absolutely nothing for him.  Hiura has a huge uppercut in his swing where he would miss anything that would be above his belt area.  Anything at or above the belt area for Hiura is a massive hole in his swing because of the severe upper cut in his swing.  Again if you fix the leg kick it does absolutely nothing.  Hiura needed to flatten out his swing and he just never did it.

I agree the massive uppercut was the biggest flaw he had but that front foot made it even worse

That feels like a growing pain game for Tyler Black which may lead to a little introspection: 2-pitch AB (89mph groundout), 3-pitch AB (85mph fly out), 5-pitch K to leadoff inning, 3-pitch K with tying run on 2nd base and 1 out, 5-pitch K with tying run on 2nd base and 1 out.

Gonna have to get better results.
