MiLB has B. Rivera as Carolina’s starter but he just started last night (and went a partial inning too long which was the theme last night with Hunt, Cruz and Rivera).

could be Letson or M. Rodriguez? Neither of them have pitched in over 10 days- either nagging injury or limiting innings for the young hurlers. Maybe a bullpen game?

Rodriguez went on the IL on 8/7.

Thanks. Missed that transaction - or just forgot it. Bummer hopefully purely precautionary. But I imagine he is shut down as there are what 2 weeks left in the season?

You quit it! 🤭

Playoffs, baby. Playoffs. September 9th-17th.

We'll need that young gun to eat his standard 5-6 IP and get the first 3-game stint off on the right foot.

Really hope Letson is starting today or it would be another week where he was listed as the SP on Saturday all week only to not actually pitch.

The High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers get us started on this pleasant Sunday afternoon, aiming to polish off a 4-2 home series win over Peoria. Starting RHP Ryan Birchard threw 59 pitches on Tuesday (3 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 3 Ks) so he’ll be helped out by rehabbers Trevor Megill and Enoli Paredes. DH Ramon Rodriguez has been a steady contributor of late (.884 OPS in last 97 PAs).

Birchard with a solid start. Walk and a hit allowed but a K and induced a GIDP

Megill rehab appearance- 1-2-3. Two soft ground out. And Adams is a sneaky good defender at 3B. And Megill strikes out the poor Peoria Chief who had no chance.

19-year old RHP Bishop Letson (3.02 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 in 56.2 IP) hasn’t made a game appearance for 15 days, but Low-A Carolina needs him to step up tonight to end a 3-game skid and tie their series at Delmarva. This is Game 12 of their 12-game roadtrip. SS Daniel Guilarte has gone 20-for-54 (.370 AVG) with 15 walks and 13 Ks since a miserable 0-for-38 stretch last month.

And Tyler Wehrle asked to pitch 4 innings of relief (probably because of the make up game yesterday and the 1 innings appearances of Birchard, Megill and Paredes today), and gives up the tying run in the 8th, and then backbreaking HR in the top of 9th. TRats now trail 3-1. Bottom 9.  Let’s get that Yooper rally started please….

RHP Tyler Wehrle retired the first 6 batters he faced to keep Wisconsin in front 1-0, but 2 singles resulted in a run in the 8th inning, then a single and homer have put the Timber Rattlers behind 3-1 in the 9th.

It's up to Adams, Garcia and Wood to turn this around.

Why is Wehrle throwing 4 innings? Well, he's averaged 36.8 pitches/game over his last 10 outings, so 54 pitches (40 strikes) on 3 days' rest is not unusual for him. And Aaron Rund is the only other fresh arm remaining in the 'pen.

Maybe the post-game podcast will tell us why Eduardo Garcia got the start instead of Jadher Areinamo.

Don't worry. He's pinch-hitting here in the bottom of the 9th. Men on 2nd and 3rd. I have a feeling good things will happen here.

Areinamo reach bloops a liner to shallow LF on an off-speed pitch low and away. Pro piece of hitting there. That's the first pinch hit by a Rattler this season - now 1-for-10. 3-2 game. Runners on the corner. Tayden Hall will get the opportunity.

Did we just blow the game by taking the bat out of Tayden Hall’s hands with the game-tying run on 3rd base with 1 out? Ahhhhhhh

And Eduardo Garcia shows why he's Eduardo Garcia. Unreal piece of bone-headed base-running. He gets the second out on an absurdly late jump after Areinamo took second base. He is such a colossally frustrating player. Absolutely zero reason to go for home there. He took off as the ball reached second base. What are you doing?!?

That was ALL Garcia. Unreal piece of poor base running. Hall walked. Areinamo stole 3rd on that pitch. Runners back on the corners. Two down. Hedbert with the opportunity to tie or win it.

Hedbert got a hold of one and hit it sharply down the 1B line but right to the 1B glove hugging the line. Man, I feel I've seen a ton of balls hit like this this past week. Hard and right to the opponents.
