Lara on some kind of heater now. He is 3-4 with a walk, but also reaches on an error and is on base all 5 trips. Two doubles and a triple. Very nice Luis. And he had another gorgeous web gem.

Meanwhile - Yerlin walks another batter. 27 pitches and only 8 strikes. The only out was the relay home to catch the runner.  Just not his night.

Yerlin with 2 WP (although I thought it was 3) plus the passed ball and walks, but gets the K to end the inning.

Meanwhile Shuckers adding more runs with the bases loaded to ground out scores runner, and now EBJ walks.

THe offense is alive for Biloxi

Mama said there'd be days like these. Andrew Fischer 0-3 with 2 K tonight. T-Rats trying to get some bats going to get back into the game.

Posted

Dubanewicz has the batters off balance - he gave up a single, but it was just a routine grounder past him and over 2nd base that neither IF could get to. Then a K and then gets a laser off the bat right to Ragsdale. He is through 3 scoreless innings with only 42 pitches!

Wisconsin gets 2 on with a Alastre HBP. As the pitcher exits the game a big roar in the stadium in Appleton after the big hit in Cincinnati. The pitcher waves to crowd - possibly just goofing off but may have thought some fans cheering for him?

Mendoza in for relief in Biloxi and gets the last batter to fly out - to who you ask? Why who else but the Luis Lara. It was Luis Lara's night tonight 3-4 (double x2, triple, reaches on error and a walk) plus at least one web gem that I saw.

And Wichrowski goes 7 innings in the start so impressive!

And Castillo (the other Luis) gets a big single and Dinges waved around 3rd, but the ball wasn't that deep and a nice relay throw and Dinges is out at the plate. Dang it.

At least he made it around third hustling with no issues, as the last time I watched Marco round third hustling like that was when he landed on the IL. So at least is OK. But darn that was a chance for a big inning.

Well one Wisconsin club have a big inning.

Miles Langhorne is out for his first outing in about 6 weeks. Gets a K on his first batter. He can really help that bullpen stabilize if he can get his form and stay healthy.

Langhorne clean inning. 2 Ks and a ground out. 12 pitches and keeps it a 4-0 game. Very nice outing. Again he could be a key contributor and a mover as a NDFA from last year. Good size and can get it up to 94 mph (maybe a touch higher earlier this year?) and seems to have a nice offspeed breaking pitch.

Dubanewicz throws a pick off throw away and the runner gets to third. He Ks the next batter. Then gives up a hit to left center and it's 3-2 game now Fayetteville leading. Dubanewicz was given a borderline pitch for strike 3 on the prior batter and again to the last batter. He gets 2 K this inning but 2 hits with an error gifts them a run.

Payne and Ragsdale both strike out - Payne swinging maybe, check swing possibly, fouled into the catcher not sure but it's strike 3. Ragsdale looking. And it's a touch 3-2 loss.

Dorchies and Dubanewicz (D&D) do pitch well, but this Mudcat offense is not the same as it is really so young with mostly 18-19 year olds in the line up with Walther and Ragsdale as 21 year olds (and I guess Holguin is 20)

Could get out of hand here. Stiven Cruz in and walks the first batter who steals a base. Gets Hope to just get under it for a fly out. Now another walk.
And Gelof is up. Oh boy.

Muddies have now let both Fredericksburg and Fayetteville right into the thick of this second half playoff race. And, realistically, the Mudcats just don't have the horses right now. Very very young pitching staff. And a very very inexperienced and young line up of bats that are mired in inconsistency or slump across the board but for Adamczewski, really. Both the Nats and the Woodpeckers are a mere 1.0 GB. With the way they've been playing the last two weeks? I don't really see a playoff team here. Hopefully, it's just a blip on their road to the post-season. My confidence is not all that high.

OK a single to right and Alastre throws it home and his throw takes him in a bit, Dinges tries to get the hitter at first and threw it wildly and it goes to the right field corner, Alastre has to run over there and gets to it but the hitter rounds the bases and beats the throw home. Ugh 3 runs "single" with the big 3 base error.

That is 2 innings where the Loons have scored multiple runs (4 and now 3) with only 1 hit in the inning. Feeling like ACL/DSL innings there yikes.

Once again seems like it is just some baseball karma right?

Yeah Fowler, Hodges (both UDFA) and Nova (minor league free agent) are the only ones on the active roster over 21.

A few 21 year olds - Reyes, Quezada and two catchers (Walther, Ordonez), and Ragsdale.

Then a couple of 20 year olds in the field (adamczewski and Holguin) and several pitchers.

But then a bunch of 18-19 year olds. So incredibly young - this is the age of several ACL clubs.

This Ibarra pitcher for the Loons. Man he gets Pena swinging. And the Fischer fouls several off and looks at a beautiful breaking pitch down the middle. Fischer 0-4 with 3K, he will not hit every night.

But Ibarra - I am impressed he has made the T-Rats look so foolish this week.

Rattlers pitchers only give up 3 hits. But 10 walks to go along with 11K, and 3 WP and a HBP.

Bottom of 9, down 7-0. Gonna need a huge comeback ….

No comeback. 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th. 7-0 shutout loss. Welp Sounds and Shuckers win as well as some team who had an away game in Ohio.

The Loons ran us ragged: 8 for 8 in stolen bases vs. Dinges.

Gotta figure Dinges will shore up his defense in the off-season and destroy everyone next year.
