I would guess that he sticks around at least until Yeli is back. At that point there will probably be enough proof one way or another to keep him as a 5th OF/backup DH/occasional 1b/and mostly pinch hitter. Who knows what the injury situation looks like at that point. With 5 hits in the last 2 games he should play everyday for a week until Vaughn and Chourio are back. I would think Jones and Perkins get sent down when they get back if Black is hitting well still.

Yeah, you could be right. Clearly Perkins is a fringe major leaguer so playing once a week isn’t going to make much impact. If the organization still views black as someone who might be a regular contributor in the future, they probably want him to play every day than be a soft platoon getting at bats here and there. Time will tell.

I would ride Tyler Black at least until his average drops below .250 or so.  MLB hitters have always been streaky, so we need to ride the wave until the wave is gone. Also, yes Jones has been awful.

I think alot will depends on how Vaughn, Bauers, Adams, and Burke play this year. If Bauers is just ok, I like Black in the Bauers role next year. If Vaughn if rough I could see Black getting a chance to take over 1B. However if Burke and Adams both take off I think both have more potential at this point and make next year more interesting. It is good to see there being some path for him.

There are only 5 regular players on the team right now hitting over .250. Brandon Lockridge and his 81 OPS+ is one of them and an injured Yelich is one of the others.

Batting average is really not what they should be looking at when making a determination. Batting average doesn't mean much in this age of baseball, not by itself.

Not by its self I agree with.  But,

It definitely means more than what you claiming because the 3 lowest averages on the Brewers are Greg Jones, Blake Perkins and Luis Rengifo.  Greg Jones has no business even being on this team at this time. When we played against the Pirates he looked like he was having a survival mode adrenalin rush panic attack at the plate.

Sure for guys hitting .200 or below but honestly even then I would need to look at other stats for those guys to confirm they are actually as bad as advertised, so again that pretty much negates the usefulness of referencing batting average to make a point.

Using simple OPS or even giving the simple slash line of, as an example, Brandon Lockridge .254/.338/.296 tells a more complete story if you don't want to get into the OPS+ side of things.

Luis Arraez is kind of the poster boy for batting average being misleading. He is continuously above or only slightly below .300 at any given time in his career. Yet he barely contributes beyond the ability to hit singles. Doesn't draw walks particularly well, doesn't hit many home runs, steal many bases, drive in many runs or even score very many runs when you consider how well he hits. He has very nearly, but not quite, empty stats. He's not a great defender either. He literally just hits singles and some doubles here and there but not proportionately to how often he hits. Some people call him one of the worst .300 hitters in the history of baseball.

Granted, I've liked Burke since he was drafted, but I think he's got the goods to play first base by June '27, probably in a platoon with Adams.

I think Black's best hope is that he performs well enough to get traded for, and has a career like Jake Bauers, where he fills a specific roster-role.
