We could have 9 versions of Gary Sanchez playing every single position in the field and it makes no difference when you have 3 runs in this stadium and are 1 for like a billion with RISP.

A ground ball was hit to Vaughn playing 3B that inning and he fielded it and threw it to first base and everything went fine and they recorded 3 outs.

When I brought up Vaughn doing this for one game in the GT last night I was told this was simply not possible.

Disgusting.

Not going to get on Patrick too much. Bad inning which he hasn’t had many of and it cost us.

Offense had plenty of opportunities to make it not matter and failed over and over again just like last night. Sproat deserved better.

Let that one slip away. Also a bit fortunate not to have been swept in the series by winning the bizarro Game 1. Lousy to have played regular season games in that ballpark, particularly in consecutive series also involving Colorado. But it looks like the pitching staff will get out without being extremely overtaxed. Need a good day off and get up for the Phillies.

You were talking about Vaughn starting games and play full games at 3B. He slid there today for an inning because they burned their entire bench. These are not the same things.

No, I talked about him starting one singular game there. You said he “can’t” play 3B, twice. You said he is not going to be playing anywhere other than 1B and DH because he can’t.

Yes, you’re right, they slid him there for an inning because he is capable of playing there. They didn’t slide Chourio there and put Mitchell in for Chourio. They put someone there who can field the position.

I’m not talking about him being a regular starter there, but clearly if needed to play a game at the position for one game in a pinch he would be capable of doing so.

Until you have 7-8 effective offensive players in the lineup Brewers are destined to disappoint. Sorry I want to be wrong but evidence is pretty clear. You just can't have Ortiz hitting with two men on like he did and hit into dp. Go get a bat for the lineup and one for the bench so we can have a real shot.

He's more capable of playing in the infield than players who have never played in the infield. Yes that's blatantly obvious. That doesn't mean he's capable of starting and playing 9 innings at 3B.

Incapable in what way?

If Hamilton and Rengifo somehow both got injured in pregame warmups on Friday and Murphy decided this was his best option for a game, he would get through it and the Brewers would still have a chance to win the game. It would not be a complete clown show every time the ball was hit to the left side of the infield.

He doesn’t play the position because he doesn’t get any regular reps there. If Murphy for whatever reason wanted to try it out, he’d start getting regular reps there, and they certainly wouldn’t try it in the middle of a season,

I have no idea if he’d be capable or not on a passable basis, but I’m certainly not going to jump to saying he “can’t”. These are professional athletes, even the worst ones are among the top .001% at what they do and far more athletic than we could ever dream of,

No, he would probably not be good there. He's not particularly great at 1B.

Pratt should be up. It’s time,

Joey has had 1.5 season to demonstrate any viability whatsoever with the bat and he just continues to get worse.

The fact that Ortiz is often finding himself on the bench these days in favor of Hamilton/Rengifo(who is obviously no better) is pretty telling that his role has been reduced greatly.

Bring Pratt up and you can likely at least live with him and Hamilton at the bottom of the order.

Tough 3 hitter stretch for Patrick & that's it. This whole series felt to me like it was professional wrestling & we were the ones scheduled to take the fall. I got a huge kick out of Soderstrom on the ball hit off the wall by Frelick. Plays it in a manner in which he gives himself no chance, then the damn thing bounds right to him & he holds it to a 1st & 2nd situation. Then later, Contreras hits a little dribbler that can't possibly be a DP---unless it's right to a MINF all but standing on the bag, which is exactly what happened. Then for the Grand Finale, the guy with the ERA over 6 puts on his Lee Smith costume two days in a row.

I'm assuming Murphy really wanted to stay away from Ashby tonite, but was left with no choice after the Patrick failure. This would've been a wonderful night to have the fully-loaded pen from the left side before Hall & Fitzpatrick went down & Drohan was moved to the rotation.

Didn't get the 'next hit', our HRs were solos, and they had one w/a man on. And of course the 1st in the bigs for Alkali Williams or whatever his name is. Big pic, you take 4-2 in this 6-game sitcom & move on.

Everything about these games in LV have been subpar. I get it, it's a minor league stadium, but this is supposed to be a major league product and it's not been that.

It's nearly as unwatchable as that Banana ball circus.

Vaughn 176 wRC+
Bauers 148 wRC+
Chourio 143 wRC+
Turang 139 wRC+
Yelich 121 wRC+
Mitchell 116 wRC+
Contreras 108 wRC+

The Brewers have seven effective regulars.

League average for a #9 hitter is a 76 wRC+ which Hamilton (90 wRC+) clears easily.

The evidence is pretty clear, the Brewers have scored the 3rd most runs in baseball while playing at a 100 Win pace thus far.

Both of those numbers are ahead of my personal expectations so hard for me to be too disappointed.
