Cubs have been scoring runs in bunches lately, but that pitching staff is in shambles.  Cant think of a better way to start the weekend than Miz shutting them down for 7 and the offense knocking Rea around to keep the strain on a taxed bullpen.

About as big of a series as you can have in June. Ending the weekend 3.5 up is really inviting them back into this thing.  Nothing is over in June but +9.5 is demoralizing. Really want to grab at least 2 of these.

I feel like the last couple times we've faced Rea, he's gotten the better of us.  Maybe it's my selective negative memory?  Here's to beating him up early and often!

Milwaukee faced Rea twice in regular season last year. Brewers handled him pretty well.

The Cubs have found their offense the last 10 days or so while the Brewers seem to have misplaced theirs. In the last 3 series (9 games) the Brewers have scored just 2 runs in 5 of the games and just 3 in one other. Fortunately the Brewers were able to win 3 of those 6 games, but they probably wouldn’t be as fortunate against the Cubs as they were against the light hitting Guardians and Reds. (We’ll never know for sure how much, if any, impact the batting eye issues in GAB had in the first two games of that series).

On paper the Brewers have a huge starting pitcher advantage on Friday and Saturday. If the Cubs can win this series even with that disadvantage they will be feeling pretty good about themselves.

The Cubs SP situation is pretty bad, but the SP the Brewers will be facing aren’t any worse than the ones that shut them down in Cincinnati. I think it’s critical that the Brewers offense knock the Cubs SP around to give the pitching staff some cushion

They've been winning games over the last week or two. Flip side is that anyone who's seen footage of the Mets lately might wonder if ANYONE can lose to that team right now.

You'd like to take advantage of their having played 3 games in the last two days while the Brewers' BP--and everyone else--had a day off yesterday.

In 2019, when the Brewers had the eventual World Series Champions four outs from elimination in the Wild Card Game, their seasonal run differential was +3. During the Brewers recent three game sweep of the Reds their run differential was +4.

In the 2017 and 2022 seasons where the Brewers just missed the playoffs with 86 wins, their seasonal run differentials were +35 and +37. Over the 26 games in May of this year when the Brewers went 19 W - 7 they had a +36 run differential.

During the 2018, 2021, and 2023 Division Championship seasons the Brewers had seasonal run differentials of +95, +115, and +81. Over their last 52 games the 2026 Brewers have an MLB best 36 W - 16 L record with a +109 run differential.

Thanks!  Maybe I'm remembering a game where he didn't start, but was good in relief against us.  Who knows?

But those stats are encouraging!

Yeah in the final two games of that series the Mets allowed 9 unearned runs which just doesn’t even feel real.

With the state of the Cubs bullpen, I think it would be a failure by the offense to allow Rea to go more than 5 innings.

You’re probably remembering the game at Wrigley in August. Rea held the Brewers to 1 run on just 3 hits through 5.2 innings and left with a 3-1 lead. An inherited runner scored to cut the lead to 3-2 and the Cubs went on to win 4-3.

That game (which was also started by Misiorowski) was especially frustrating because Rea walked 5 but wriggled out of jams. It was also the Cubs third straight win over the Brewers after sweeping a doubleheader the day before.

Hopefully they can do more with Rea tonight.

I don’t care if he goes more than 5 innings if the Brewers score at least 5 runs against him.

Google Apple TV free trial. Sign up for that then cancel the free trial after the Brewers game tonight.

Did that years ago already.  So, if I want to watch I am required to pay for a full month of a service I want nothing to do with.   Really is annoying.

You can make a throwaway gmail account (takes like 5 minutes) and use that gmail account to make a new apple account so you can do another free trial

Well, Apple TV will still ask me for a credit card # and they will throw a message it is already on file.  Not sure this is ethical.   Yeah, I know there are ways to watch but I want to keep it honest.

I say no reason to be ethical when MLB is trying to scrape every last dollar out of you to watch your local baseball team.

Let's hope that Murphy doesn't make this another let me overthink myself series. Just play the best players. Get the bullpen ready when needed. Pitch your closer no matter what. If I see Vaughn sitting against Colin Rea 😤

Sounds like we have won a few world series pre 2026, and will win another in 2026!

I will never not be angry about MLB.TV's claim that you can "watch every live out of market game", then inventing the term "national blackout" to shut you out when they decide to sell games other to streaming services.
