Despite the concerns about Yelich at DH, the Brewers are currently 9th in MLB (4th in NL) in DH OPS at .761. I realize they mix and match this a little, but so do most teams.

A lot of this would come down to their assessment of his D and what happens if shifted to 3B.  Someone posted that his range is considered awful at SS, well theoretically that issue is strongly minimized at 3B.  As others have said, he doesn't scream brewer player to people like us, but the other way to look at is if they do get him you know they think he can handle 3B at least to an avg level. I guess they could be wrong in that assessment, but we know they value this and that issue isn't being ignored.

I know everyone is now acting as if SS/3B is no longer an issue, and obviously its good to see the last few good weeks out of both spots, but you have to realize there is a huge huge chance that is a fluky hot streak moreso than all of a sudden Ortiz is good and a guy who was a light hitter in the minors is gonna hit super well in MLB his rookie year and in the playoffs vs elite pitching.   I'm glad they're still looking for some insurance here. Remember Ortiz had a good few weeks in Aug last year too then fell apart.  I'd also toss out a guess that Ortiz would be in the trade.

And for the concerns on all the prospects coming up at IF. You can essentially look at Abrams for this year and next, which works out really well actually with the potential timelines on Made (especially if an early contract doesn't happen). He could come up to get his feet wet at some point next year due to injuries or whatever else, if all looks good he takes over full time in 28.  Then trade Abrams after next year and get back a lot of what you lost in acquiring him and avoid his high last year of arb salary.

All that said, I fully expect is price will be higher than MKE is willing to pay
