  1. In that case though Vaughn and Sal would both likely be starting for them as they're desperate for offense and regulars on offense. Though I haven't looked into how some of their callups have been doing. Still, yea I agree I don't see them giving up a pitcher like that. Have to remember Vaughn will be in the 10 mill area or gone next year, they don't love paying money in that world. Sal while adequate is likely ceilinged at about what he is now. I generally like Crow and think he has a chance, but still don't think this is enough for them
  2. Don't see Robbie Ray's name thrown around much here or out in the media. Seems like he's rebounded and been fairly solid the last two years, only signed through this year and would probably owe him around 11 mil by the time he's acquired. Many teams would likely look to have SF eat some of the salary. Maybe offer to take it all on to reduce prospect pay out. Or you can make the other argument, that we could entice them to pay more money due to how much better prospects we could afford to give. Either way, can't imagine the prospect cost is all too much for him.
  3. And with how good his swing looked, I'm wagering he's spent some time working on it in the past and it might've been a close call on whether to be a switch hitter or not long term. But yea, if a non pitcher can pitch then a hitter can do this, the only thing its hurting is his own chances of a free hit/hr
  4. I'd agree. Would be a nice time to give him a two week break other than 1 inning in the ASG. FYI, CBS currently lists Miz vs Skenes this Sunday. I'm sure MLB would prefer if both of them took that day off. With how mediocre Skenes has been lately it wouldn't surprise if Pit was looking at the same near two week break for him. Of course they're a bit more desperate for Ws though
  5. Right, generally speaking it seems they missed the note that a lefty was gonna be the bulk guy and should've had a vs lefty line up out there. But who knows, that stuff is tricky when its questionable if anyone will go more than 2-3 innings. In addition, a vs lefty lineup could've easily had one of yelich/Bauers on the bench and both had good games. Sometimes baseball just happens
  6. yea and he's possibly coming on at this time to play D for Bauers anyway. That said, I agree with the comments earlier on getting Vaughn in for Frelicks earlier ABs. Sure you'd have a few innings of Bauers D in the OF but can put the new guy in for the 8th/9th innings so it would've only been a few innings
  7. heck of a play by the CF. Off the bat I thought that would be an easy score and initially thought not worth even throwing to the plate. Still he looks safe
  8. Definitely an issue the last couple weeks. But through the year RISP stats for the brewers have been among the best in the league. One of the reasons they're considered 'lucky'
  9. I looked at Jones's page and he has at least some IF experience here and there the last couple years. They might view him as a Util type that can fill in a pinch. I didn't look at who else is on the 40 man as a more traditional IF utility guy. Man where is Siegler when you need him
  10. Right. That said, there's certainly a world where he keeps tearing it up in AA. Gets to AAA say a month from now, keeps killing it. And then come end of Aug or early Sept our 3B situation is still trash and they do give it a try for the playoffs. Right now though, with the team basically on cruise control to a division win you don't have to take that risk
  11. Which, if he pans out, could cost you a season down the line when he would hit 45 HRs
  12. If not for the roster rules issues tossing out fischer and seeing what happens could be an idea. However, starting his clock, using a 40 man spot for that gamble just isn't likely to happen. Especially with the potential lockout coming. Say it was like the NBA and he was on a 2 way type contract where there is no risk in bringing him up and down, yea with our production at 3B give it a try.
  13. Yea Sal has been perfectly good for the last month or so. And Perkins has generally been adequate when playing vs lefties. Not sure where the playing time comes from but we'll see. I also haven't looked if there is a bunch of lefties the rest of the week or anything
  14. New Zealand could be on this list if you're ok with that long of a flight. Ticks all the boxes, very family friendly. Tons of variety in things to do and different types of nature/landscapes to see.
  15. Almost anyone who is a SS can play 3B. We currently have a massive lack of production at both positions. Of course we all know Pratt is signed long term, but the person acquired can go to 3rd now or next year, or Pratt could. Chances are whoever they acquire is worse at defensive SS than Pratt/Ortiz so it would be them being moved. In addition, there is no reason they couldn't send Pratt back down this year for more time at AAA, and then sort it out in the offseason on a plan going forward.
