Now let me completely contradict myself.

If you look at Hellings career, he is a 4.7 era pitcher, but coming from the AL. He only gives up a tick over a hit an inning and has a k bb ratio of almost 2 to 1.

Is it possible that Rick is auditioning to be our number 5 starter for the next three years?

Is it possible Maddux can make him a 4.1 or 4.2 era pitcher in Milwaukee.

If what I say is possible, then OK, Helling should be pitching. But is it possible? There are plenty of decent pitchers between 34 and 37. Is it possible Helling can be one?

The Brewers are not exactly overflowing with SP prospects for the immediate term, so I think almost everyone is auditioning for that 5th spot. I suspect at least one guy in next year's rotation is not currently a Brewer though.

I have to admit I questioned walking Loretta to get to Giles. I didn't like having to face Loretta there, but Giles power is a bit more scary. Looked pretty good though. Ned must have seen something to make him do that.

Man, I love the way the Nedster is orchestrating the bullpen tonight. Getting good matchups. And trusting the pen. This game has nice feel to it.

Hoffy, care to retract your last post? Yikes.......

Yost WAS orchestrating the bullpen very well....right up until Greene hit the ball out! I kind of liked Eveland finishing out the 8th to get to Turnbow.

Too many Brewer pitchers are throwing strikes on 0-2 counts and it's killing us.

"Throw strikes early so you don't have to later!" Why aren't they listening to Maddux?

But, Hoffy, you weren't alone - I thought the game was unfolding very well. Great outing by Helling, Eveland in at the right time, get to Turnbow to close it out. Guess we'll just have to rely on that great offense again! Although, this does give Prince another chance to save the day....
