Off-Season Transactions -- Latest: Miscellaneous Updates

I see Andrew Lefave is now on Harrisburg's roster. I assume this is a trade, as he wasn't a FA, and there's no way the Crew released a soon-to-be 24 year old with a 957 OPS last year.

Any info on that?

He was the PTBNL in the Ray King deal, lots of rumblings about that move last year, as it was the first year in a while any prospects of any significance were on the move.

Link below because I did a quick reply and am too lazy to retype.

In order to bring the West Virginia roster down to the 25-man limit, LHP Dan Merklinger was placed on the 7-day DL (remember, minor league DL is seven days) with an undisclosed injury.

Merklinger is supposed to be a player, so I doubt they're just hiding him. I mean, they could just put him at extended spring training. probably has a minor nick.

I see Thomas Atlee is on the 7 day DL for Huntsville. I think that gets them down to 24 players.

From the Nashville site:

April 3 P Richie Gardner placed on D.L. (left ankle sprain); P Mark DiFelice placed on D.L. (right knee surgery); C Lou Palmisano placed on D.L. (left knee surgery); P Yovani Gallardo added from Milwaukee on rehabilitation assignment

From the Brevard County roster page:

Chris Cody and Mark Rogers on the 7-day DL as expected. Also Travis Wendte on the 7-day DL

They also list Jeremy Jefress there on the suspended list. First we've seen him listed there.

Here are some updates on some of the players we were initially unsure of --

Catcher Brian Munhall, as many thought, was released when Eric Munson accepted his assignment to Nashville.

RHP Juan Sandoval, the minor league phase Rule 5 pick, had visa issues and only recently arrived in Maryvale for extended spring.

Catcher D.J. Neyens apparently is contemplating his status after Ulrich Snijders won the backup catcher job in West Virginia.

In an interesting set of situations, RHP Brock Kjeldgaard is making an attempt to convert to an offensive player, while Nestor Corredor is hoping to take his cannon arm to the mound. Cool of the Brewers to allow these players to take this route -- of course, the front office has a vested interest in maximizing a player's value before letting them go as well. (Starsboxscore.com indicated that we had said Corredor had been released previously, but I don't believe we did.)
