I right clicked and did properties on the photo and that's what came up.

 

Newmar was a babe back in the day.........

That was a diversionary tactic on my end. Julie Newmar is still pretty good looking for her age. This gal was never babe-alicious.

Actually Kat -- I was pretty nervous that you would be one of the ones to get it right, right off the bat.

The face is incredibly familiar, but I am totally blanking on a name. I know I am going to kick myself when it's finally figured out.

Gyp got it -- Shirley Jackson -- if you haven't read any of her stories now is a great time to do it -- since we are closing in on Halloween.

 

The Haunting of Hill House, (a great movie) is probably one of the best horror novels of the 20th century.

 

She is probably most famous though for penning "The Lottery" which is a quaint little tale about how we all think violence is super-awesome, unless it is happening to us, then we tend to think it sucks.

Thank you. I read "The Lottery" in school. I forget what grade. I think another one of the themes is clinging to tradition even though the tradition is stupid.
