Whats the deal with Golden Compass (no spoilers please)

I wanted to go today and I look and its only got 2 show times. I thought that it would be a big of a bigger draw.

 

Does this movie suck?

I didn't mind it. I haven't read the books, but it was fairly obvious that they were trying to cram far too much information and content into two hours. It was difficult to figure out just why certain events were happening, or their greater relevance to the whole story because of it. The film really should have been an hour longer. Not a great movie, and probably not a very good one either, but by no means a waste of money either.

I saw it a few weeks ago and thought it was one of the worst movies I've spent money to see. IMO, there were only about 20 minutes toward the end that were palatable. Maybe kids (the main target audience, I think) who wouldn't question some of the stuff that doesn't seem to fit would still enjoy the movie, though.

Apparently the Video Game version is horrific, as I think a 3.5 is the lowest score I've ever seen IGN give out.

 

Heck, even Beowulf: The Game got a 4.0.
