Brewers Video
- Uplifting: 0.46 ERA
- Concerning: 9 SV
It's really hard to find anything to complain about when it comes to Devin Williams, because he’s been as close to perfect as you can get. Truly, the only problem the Brewers have had with Williams is getting him into save situations. He’s a perfect nine for nine on save opportunities, and the Brewers have played nearly 60 games. His sub-0.50 ERA speaks for itself; the Brewers just need to find a way to get him into more games.
- Uplifting: 4.5% BB Rate
- Concerning: 21.8% K Rate
As it stands right now, Strzelecki has shifted into the eighth-inning role. Most importantly, Strzelecki has lowered his walk rate by over five percentage points. However, his strikeout rate has gone down by a similar amount. Because of this, there have been a handful of innings where Strzelecki has surrendered some runs due to some poor batted-ball luck. Other than that, though, he’s been a solid option.
- Uplifting: 1.06 WHIP
- Concerning: 40.7% Hard Hit Rate
Bryse Wilson has been the perfect long reliever. He can pitch upwards of 5 innings if needed, and is doing a great job limiting both baserunners and runs. It’s almost odd that Wilson hasn’t gotten a shot in the rotation yet, especially with all the injuries, but maybe that's a testament to how great he's been in the long relief role. He’s no analytical darling, and gives up his fair share of solid contact, but the results haven’t lied.
- Uplifting: His Statcast Statistics
- Concerning: Getting the First Out
Whatever Joel Payamps found in Milwaukee, it's been working wonders. Almost all of his Statcast numbers have improved, and he's getting results because of it. The only thing Payamps has had problems with is getting the first out, and pitching with the bases empty. It’s a small complaint, as if there's any time to give up hits, it’s with empty bases.
Hoby Milner
- Uplifting: 3.92 ERA
- Concerning: .455 xSLG
Milner’s role is still very much that of a matchup guy, but due to some injuries, he’s been forced into pitching in situations in which he normally wouldn't find himself. That being said, he still boasts a sub-4.00 ERA, but he is giving up hard contact and a lot of extra-base hits, two things he specialized in avoiding last year.
Elvis Peguero
- Uplifting: 2.89 ERA
- Concerning: 1st percentile fastball spin
In one of the more flexible roles in the bullpen, Peguero has found success, pitching to a 2.89 ERA thus far. His 1st-percentile fastball spin is very odd, considering he's throwing his sinker in the 94-96 range consistently. There isn’t really much to unpack otherwise, and the Brewers will continue to rely on Peguero for the odd jobs going forward.
