  1. Appropriate. Good night, everyone... don't do anything too drastic. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  2. Nevermind. Just seemed like something he'd love doing with Scrappy Graffy. C'mon, Tony! ~Bill
  3. Ned's gonna squeeze here... ~Bill
  4. If that was Kevin Blackistone's idea of "done," I'd like to see what a good pitcher looks like. Good velocity and an aggressive approach... nothing wrong with that outing, Francisco. ~Bill
  5. Cordero, Capellan, and Turnbow could make a pretty devastating late inning relief trio. Mid-to-high-90s fastballs and high-80s sliders, one and all. There's that whole throwing strikes thing, but they've got the stuff. A guy can dream, can't he? ~Bill
  6. I feel like I'm watching WWE... if Mench is going to get in the game, he better hurry up. Good job by FSN, though - that was pretty cool. ~Bill
  7. This is probably going to be a really memorable day in Milwaukee Brewers history regardless of what happens in the next inning, but this would be a pretty tough loss to take on top of everything else. C'mon, Brewers! ~Bill
  8. Big Donkey went after Damian's head with his elbow a little more than I would have liked... that was a borderline shady play. Bill Schroeder sayd "he didn't throw the elbow out there" but I don't know about that. I just hope Damian is okay. After Corey Koskie's phantom concussion, anything like that is kind of scary. ~Bill
  9. Jeff Cirillo + Playing Everyday = Wes Helms Argh. ~Bill
  10. Bell's still playing for the Phillies against Florida... not sure what Bill Schroeder was looking at. ~Bill
  11. McCalvy's latest article indicates that he hurt his wrist while waggling his bat in the dugout. Seriously. That's like 500 times worse. Cursed, for real. ~Bill
  12. Way to make things happen, Ned. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Let your hitters hit! ~Bill
  13. The ump owed us one, but that 0-1 slider to Aurilia wasn't even particularly close. I'll take it, though. Nice job, T-Bow! ~Bill
  14. Rarely easy, is it? It looks like Carlos is okay... he turned his ankle, I think, coming around third. I'm sure we'll know more after the game and probably tomorrow. Given that it's a day game after a night game, he might have been scheduled for an off-day, anyway... might want to give him tomorrow and then Thursday to recover. We'll see. ~Bill
  15. Great throw by Kearns and a great slide by Rickie... that was baseball at its best. I don't think more than a handful of guys in the entire league would score on that ball - it is truly incredible how fast he is. Hope Carlos is okay... not sure what happened. ~Bill
  16. The Reds bullpen is like a museum for pitchers who used to be kind of famous but can't get anyone out. Russ Ortiz is destined to join them, I think. ~Bill
  17. That was a GABP home run if there ever was one. This ballpark IS a joke, Schroeder. Stupid pitch, though... just keep pounding sinkers, don't try to elevate it. ~Bill
  18. It sure would be nice if Old Dan Kolb came back and killed New Dan Kolb before Sunday's game. I heart Old Dan Kolb. ~Bill
  19. Good point, Toby... I'm sold. That's the difference between making an argument and just tossing out snark. There's nothing wrong with a little snarkiness now and then, especially in these game threads, but it's nice to hear good, reasoned baseball arguments, too. -- Yan is seriously a scary dude. Part of it is the way he wears his hat, I think... not sure. But those close-ups of his mug are not for the faint of heart. ~Bill
  20. Is it like 98 degrees in Cincy? Yan is sweating like he's in a sauna and he's got a deranged look on his face. Frankly, I'd be pretty intimidated digging in against him. Yikes. ~Bill
  21. I don't get the results-focused snark. If you can't articulate a reason for the move to have been made (e.g. Yost should have brought in Shouse in that situation because...), then it doesn't make much sense to launch a few sarcasm grenades toward those who made an argument the other way. Yost could have brought in Winkelsas there and it could have worked out wonderfully, but that doesn't mean it was the correct move when the decision-making process occurred, right? Anyway, nice job getting out of it by the LOOGY and Dominican Cappy. ~Bill
  22. Totally. I was looking forward to having a LOOGY and it looked like Yost "got it" right after Shouse was acquired, but since the Phillies series it's been like he forgot how to use his new toy. With eight guys in the bullpen, it's not like he's gotta worry about using too many relievers. For someone who idolizes Tony La Russa and everything Redbirds, Ned sure doesn't seem to grasp the LOOGY/platoon split thing. ~Bill
  23. I didn't think he threw at Brady's head... if he did, then I agree. It seemed to me like that ball was like ten feet over his head - Arroyo did that instead of hitting him, which I guess if I was batting would be preferable. I'd much rather see a pitcher do what Arroyo did than plunk a player on the elbow or knee. If he really was throwing at his head and just missed, though, then I'd change my tune 180 degrees. ~Bill
  24. Nice job by Arroyo... he didn't try to hit him, he just sent a message. Hopefully Brady thinks twice next time before he tries to take out a catcher's knees with a dirty slide. ~Bill
  25. Bill Schroeder is doing his best to avoid the obvious post-career job for Cirillo: FSN North color commentator. Rillo's gonna take your gig someday, Rock, and he's gonna do an amazing job. ~Bill
