  1. I saw Putnam play in the AFLAC game last year and he was pretty impressive. They interviewed him after he pitched and he was a real polished, intelligent speaker who seemed to be taking everything in stride. I'm no fan of drafting prep pitchers, but he was the goods. ~Bill
  2. Tied at two after seven. Some bad defense and a bloop single off of Ford got the Suns on the board. Prior to that, Eveland and Ford had combined to retire 13 in a row and the Suns hadn't gotten a hit since the first inning. ~Bill
  3. Seventh inning stretch, still 2-0. Matt Ford just pitched a scoreless inning of relief. BTW, I'd like some Kickin' Chicken. Any of you Huntsville folks want to pick me up something for lunch? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ~Bill
  4. Still Stars 2, Suns nothing after five and a half. Billingsley has retired 13 in a row, I think. Eveland is dealing, too. ~Bill
  5. Today is the first of two "Student Celebration of Reading Days" in Jacksonville. It's a school day, and it's 10 in the morning. Something like 2,000 students are at the game. Hmm. Things sure are different in the South. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif BTW, Chad Billingsley is starting for Jacksonville. He's one of the Dodgers' top pitching prospects. Stars up 2-0 in the second. ~Bill
  6. That was awesome. I'm stoked. Woohoo. ~Bill
  7. The Muscle is the new fan favorite. 3TO, baby... the Revolution has begun. ~Bill
  8. McClendon must be reading brewerfan. Hi, Lloyd! ~Bill
  9. Why is Kip Wells still pitching? ~Bill
  10. Good job, Sharpie. And you're right, hawing, he's got a new look this year. Less like a pirate and more like a... hmm. I have no idea. ~Bill
  11. Russell Branyan is good for the financial viability of brewerfan.net. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ~Bill
  12. Jenks...take note of Overbay Indeed. ~Bill
  13. Overbay is a walkin' machine. ~Bill
  14. That throw by Jenkins was like 20 feet offline from short right field. What's up with Jenks? He needs a hug. ~Bill
  15. Ty Wigginton is apparently on a kamikazee mission today. That's two pretty hard slides into second where he almost killed himself. Fear him, Junior. You are fragile, and he is large. ~Bill
  16. Nice rip by Tyke... I'm really beginning to hate that guy. Craig Wilson is surprisingly fast, too, but Tyke can fly. ~Bill
  17. How was Schroeder ever a catcher?? Did he just put down fingers until the pitcher said ok? I bet he struggled with pitchers who had four pitches. It's hard to remember that many signs. ~Bill
  18. Daron OPSing it up again. Bill has no clue. ~Bill
  19. That was killed. Russell just flicked his wrists and hit that like 500 feet. Amazing. The only other home run that came close to that as far as I can remember was a shot by Morneau either last year or the year before. EDIT: And by that I mean home runs that hit the scoreboard at Miller Park. That was loooooooong. ~Bill
  20. I still think this lineup is really sweet. Jenkins is what he is but the lefty/righty composition and the fact that Damian Miller and JJ Hardy can hit is just so wonderful. It is kind of weird, though, when your highest paid player (or second-highest, I guess) is the only blackhole in your lineup (at least for right now). Go team. ~Bill
  21. and if jenkins or someone would of drove in a run no one would be talking about the bench The bench wasn't the reason we lost today. I just think that today's game again highlighted the problems with our current bench composition. Only one left-handed hitter, and Magruder is not very good from that side of the dish, two right-handed hitting third-basemen, a right-handed hitting infielder, and a right-handed hitting catcher. And most importantly, just no real good hitters (maybe Cirillo, and maybe Helms against left-handers). We don't have a Ginter or a Clark or a Grieve or a Vander Wal, and that's problematic. And having only one outfielder really limits Yost's strategic flexibility. ~Bill
  22. And please, everyone, no curse words or "hidden" curse words. Brian has been posting reminders way too often... if you need an expletive, try "helmsific" or "crudalicious". ~Bill
  23. The bench is really a problem right now. No legitimate left-handed hitters, only one outfielder, and no "good" hitters unless Russell is on the bench. We really miss having Ginter and Clark/Grieve. Melvin needs to remedy this situation ASAP. I hope that doesn't mean we have to bring up Krynzel, but the status quo is pretty much intolerable. Tough loss but some outstanding pitching. JDLR = wow. ~Bill
  24. This is pretty intense for a game in the first week of the year. C'mon, JDLR. ~Bill
  25. What an unbelievable hook. That's a Ben Sheets quality yakker. ~Bill
