Thanks for doing this, always fun to see results and speculate.
  2. one comment, even before the recent hot streak, I'd have thought Santana is pretty much locked in in RF next year to see what they have.
  3. on the positive side, 14 strikeouts by Diplan yesterday
  4. Hader with 6 K's thru 3, one of them a whiff of Carlos Gomez....

  6. With Sabathia I believe PTBNL was Taylor Green if Crew did not make playoffs and Brantley if they did make playoffs
  7. also pissed -- C Ray, Ponce, Diplan, F "don't call me Wily" Peralta, Woodruff, Erceg.....
  8. Does anyone know T Rats rotation well enough to know probable pitchers for this Sat and Sun games? I will likely be at one or the other, would be nice to know who may be on the hill. Thanks

Thought it would be relatively thin getting to 25 but was suprised with mix of talent and in some cases enigmas/health issues left off -- Scarptetta, Bucci, Arnett, Heckathorn, Reed, Olmsted, Magnifico, Jesus Saves, Gagnon, Garfield, and even recent return of D'Vo. Also intrigued by Denson like several on bf.net based on the one swing and massive power. All in all system is getting stronger again, and hopefully much more so by midnight on 7/31 with a few of the vets going away for another infusion of talent.
  11. From yesterday's link report -- Mike Olt, much discussed during run up to Grienke trade -- his .500ish AAA OPS is brutal in comparison to anything, much less in comparison to what Segura is doing at the major league level. And is the Josh Romanski with 54.00 ERA the same former Brewer draftee that made pitcher to hitter switch?
  12. MLB game day list Wolf's 5th pitch to Phillips in 1st as a 57mph Eephus pitch. I don't think I've ever seen that before in gameday!
  13. What might have been.... from Baseball America chat- Henry (Raleigh, NC): Carlos Rodon is having an outstanding freshman year thus far. Even though it is 2 years away, is he in the discussion for 1st overall pick in 2014? Jim Callis: It's very early, but that's fair. He's as good as any college player for the 2014 draft. North Carolina State has a strong freshman class and will be tough to handle over the next couple of years.
  14. I'm going to be in Phoenix early April -- can anyone point me to where I can find minor league spring games/schedule?

  16. Love this line from the fangraphs prospect list linked above, in their summary about OF Caleb Gindl: "Gindl will likely top out as a No. 4 starter"
  17. I think it is a good move. Near term, stronger lineup to take advantage of window of opportunity in 2012 with Grienke and Marcum. Give Gamel his shot full time at 1B. Longer term, if Gamel is a bust, move Ramierez to 1B (which would seem to be a natural move for Ramierez as he gets older) and give Taylor Green his shot at 3B if he has earned that shot. If Gamel is productive then a year from now you have options with potential trade of one of those 3 to fill another spot on the roster.
  18. How cool is this -- Alex Gonzalez's # 1 comp according to Baseball reference is the other Alex Gonzalez http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gonzaal02.shtml
  19. I could see Counsell getting bench coach offer in Milw... oops I said bench coach, that's Narron's gig now and Sveum was hitting coach... Thoughts as to who might get that role in Milw now that Sveum is gone?
  20. I know Weeks had a few errors this series and several posted here with frustration about his D. But a picture (or in this case a video) tells about all you need to know about two guys... Let me set the stage. Elimination game in the NLCS. Your team teetering on the brink, down 3 in the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two outs. Got to get this out and prevent those two from scoring. Gotta go after everything - at least keep it on the infield. It's all-out effort time if ever there's an all-out effort time. So look at the effort, angle, and range Yuni comes with: After you've watched it once or twice, note that the ball is several feet on SS side, and Weeks (still coming off a very severe ankle sprain) comes from 2B side and gives it the old college try with dive at the end, looks like Weeks was 3 or 4 running strides on SS side of line when he made the dive. I realize it looks like they were shifted a bit to the pull side from typical 2B and SS spots. But what was Yuni doing, going to cover 2nd in case there was a force play on the ghost runner from first? Maybe from second base he had a better angle to see if Doug Melvin was up in his box picking up the option on Yuni's contract for next year? "The little things" is what they always call them... I am glad we have Weeks signed (and I expect a big year in '12) and I hope like heck that Melvin says "No thanks, and that" when it comes to Yuni's contract option.
  21. I think the broadcast last night flashed a graphic saying that was Braun's 12th career walk off HR. Really? 716 career games, half of those on the road (wher you cannot have a walk off) so that's saying he's had a walk off HR once every 30 home games? I find that pretty hard to believe. Confirmation? Any Rain Man out there that remembers or can find all 12?
  22. When you you expect you'll have post signing deadline Power 50 update. With nothing of consequence going on at the major league level to grab my attention, I'm curious how the pair of first rounders stack up in your informed opinions.
