  8. Beyond the bio, I actually started my baseball life getting autographs from the time I was 9 or 10 years old. In middle school and High school I would go to tons of minor league games. The autographs didnt matter so much but the exposure to the players was invaluable. It was the only forum I could practice talking to athletes in a work setting since I obviously couldnt have learned how to do this in a classroom. The first client I ever signed was back in 2002 and he made it to the big leagues within a year. I figured it was pretty easy after that, and I didnt have another big leaguer for 3 more years. It's a crazy job, and there is a lot of stuff that comes with it that I dont really care for, but the job itself, I love doing more than anything.
  9. Sorry for the late post, Ford had a hit a walk and a steal today, brewer had a walk two steals a single and a homer, chapman was 2/4 with a double and a steal, didnt get to see cain's game.
  10. Ford played CF for WV, Brantley in RF Chapman in LF
  11. Watched Ford,Chapman,Brewer and Cain play against the giants yesterday. Ford/Chapman/Brewer were with the WV team while Cain was with Brevard. Ford had a couple walks a steal and a run scored, Chapman was 1-4 with a single, Brewer was 2-3 and absolutely killed a giants pitcher with a line drive off his knee (he had to leave the game) while Cain was 2-3 with a SB.
  12. Not sure, but he's pretty darn fast. The only other pure speed guy in his league ive seen is Jose Campusano of the marlins who runs a 6.15 guess who his agent is http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Brent Brewer Lorenzo Cain Mike Carlin Stephen Chapman Darren Ford Im sure you're all stunned. Chappy got to work out at big league camp today, no other news to report.
  14. Some minor league awards were given out today for ST, Darren Ford ran a 6.11 60 time today, Cain won the vertical leap and Mike Carlin won another award (cant remember the exact award). Cain also ran a 6.29 60 time. ------------------ Hi Josh. Questions: Who was your first Brewer client, and what sold him on your agency? Did that client then have any influence on obtaining future Brewer clients via good word-of-mouth? Our agency has had Cain since he was at TCC. I lived in the area and was lucky enough to have found Lo way back when. Our area guy has known Lorenzo since he was at madison HS and he was our first brewers player. I myself was scouting Darren Ford at Chipola JC, a rival school to TCC at the same time I found Lo, and it just kind of worked out that the two were under control by the Brewers. Chapman is from the same area and has a long relationship with our N. Florida area scout while Brent Brewer was a referral, which is the best compliment an agency can get. We work hard to get all of our clients, so you'd have to ask them what sold them on us, but we like to believe we treat everyone like they are a major leaguer while they are in the minor leagues. This is obviously a competitive business. What is your standard operation for making first contact with a potential client, and what is your ratio of contacts vs. commitments? I imagine even 1-in-100 might be considered a success. Truthfully, Ive never even thought about this, and couldn't even guess at an answer. We dont pursue players under contract with other agencies so we dont really go after guys in pro ball already unless there is a special situation or a referal. As for amateurs we only go after four or five players a year. This is a game of failures thats all I can say :P The testimonials are impressive: doublediamondsportsmanage...nials.html Can you provide a laundry list of what services you provide for your clients? Not in super detail, but an overall list of priorities. We just try to do everything for the players so all they have to worry about is playing baseball. Is there any type of endorsement or affiliation that you may have wished to pursue for a client but the parent organization frowned on? We havent had this problem yet since endorsements are usually a personal choice and the teams tend to stay out of those affairs. Thanks. This is a nice opportunity for us to learn -- we've never had an agent willing to share with our readers in the past, particularly one with some impressive Brewer clients. Thanks, and any time!!!
  15. I will be in arizona this week watching the guys. lorenzo faced eric gagne the other day and darren got a bunt hit yesterday. will keep everyone posted. J
  16. The order form is for the players we represent in pro-ball incase they need equipment asap, it occasionally makes things easier on us instead of a phone call.

  18. I just got done at a Canadian baseball tournament, off to Jupiter tomorrow, then Arizona Wed. Ill keep you all posted on brewers camp. Lorenzo played in another big league game today. Later J
  19. I've always pursued my own guys. I've never had a kid just show up.
  20. If anyone has any other questions and what not just post them here, Ill be on the road alot this month but will check back when I can.
  21. Brent's bio is going back up in the AM ,had some editing to do. As for the DFE process, it's a dead issue after this year since there is a drop dead signing date now (8/15). In the past it's been a blessing sometimes and a curse other times. It gave teams the chance to take a kid who was too raw for pro ball and kinda hold him for a year to see how the player progressed. As for the negotiating, I wasnt a fan, it's difficult to leverage the draft against a team, when the team you are dealing with is the only team really allowed to scout the player. When a kid is "under control" the other 29 other teams usually tune out since they cant even talk to the kid. It's rare to find a d/f who got more money out of the draft as opposed to signing but it has happened before.and I have done it before.
  22. Darren dressed in a big league ST game wed. and Stepehn Chapman is reporting to camp today. Just an update.
