  1. I'll miss the enthusiasm with which GoGo played the game. He played hard and he played to win. Aggravating at times, but fun to watch. ARam kind of grew on me. He's another guy who played hard, but in a different way from GoGo. Fiers put up some very good numbers around the off-the-field things he had to deal with a couple of years ago. I enjoyed watching him develop. Best wishes to all three of them.
  2. There are lots of blogs/resources on-line with tips to make your visit as awesome as possible, including tips for traveling with kids. Off-hand, I can't think of specific sites, but I know they're out there. We went last year (no children, though)--my sister and mom did all of the planning for us.
  3. I loved the original series, as weird as it was. I'm excited at new episodes, but also wary, since it's been so long.
  4. It was a nice treat at the end of a long day at school. While the song is now almost everywhere, it was a fun video to watch, and fun to see the guys relaxed.
  5. I had a similar thought about Wacha, but, since he's on the "wrong" team, he can't be Fozzy.
  6. I kind of agree with rwa12--GoGo as Gonzo, but I'm not quite sure why.
  7. So, as I'm watching the game the other night (the one when Scooter had a great game), I realize that, every time I hear "Scooter", I start picturing the Muppets. Then, after the game, I ask hubby, "So, if we have a Scooter now, who on the team is Kermit?" His response, "Shouldn't you be asking who's Dr. Teeth, since Scooter was their manager?" So I put the expanded question to you--Who on the team would be the various Muppet characters?
  8. I thought I saw that live events as well as replays were available, but I'm not certain.
  9. I realize this probably isn't true, but I picture you watching the equestrian events, yelling at the TV trying to psych out the horses & riders into falling. Not quite, but close--I did make comments to myself about some near misses, and about one jump in particular where the horse lands on a steep downslope.
  10. I'm going to be such a girl right now, but I can't remember the last time I got to watch the equestrian events. I saw some of the dressage over the weekend, and I'm watching the cross-country stage right now. So far, I haven't seen anyone fall, but one of the U.S. horses did balk at one jump, and has struggled to clear a couple of others.
  11. When I get up in the morning, and there's a note on my computer, from my husband, to check out a thread, and he signs it with a smiley face, I know it's gotta be good. But, when I nearly laugh out loud, risking waking him up--even better than I expected. I had forgotten about the themed trip until I read the first post. As craigharmann said, it's fun to see the team do something like this, and hopefully it will loosen them up a little so they can have fun while they play each day.
  12. Every time my husband walked by my computer last night, he cracked up. Every time I sit down to my computer, I can't help but smile. I'm thinking about putting it on my computer at school, too.
  13. A blog (don't know which one) stated it was Ron's idea. He's done a great job as first-year manager, especially in keeping the team loose yet focused.
  14. Mine too. I love the closeness this team is showing, and the next month is going to be a lot of fun. (Something to get me through long days at school.)
  15. The glacier expedition we did was out of Skagway, out past Haines. As some have said, there are a multitude of opportunities, especially for things you may never get a chance to do otherwise, like the zipline for us. (I totally surprised my husband by saying I was interested in trying a zipline, and I didn't get scared one bit. In fact, I was hooked after the very short "training" line at the start of the course, and I look forward to being able to do it again some time.)
  16. I'm really bugged by people (relatives) who think money grows on trees, and have the nerve to get angry when someone puts a foot down about it, especially when that someone is now completely ignored.
  17. All set to fire up the dvr'ed game and the grill, and no recording on the tivo. According to the history, it was cancelled due to a scheduling update, so no game. Looking forward to it all day, now nothing.
  18. I've been in Arizona for 17 years, and saw my first up-close tarantula earlier this school year (in our teachers' lunch room, no less). Completely freaked me out when it started moving. I've encountered a couple of scorpions, both as I was getting ready for the new school year, and a couple of snakes--a big bull snake, and a baby rattlesnake, both with kids on the playground; and a baby king snake. The snakes do not bother me anywhere near as much as that tarantula, though--go figure.
  19. I like how that turned out, both the frame and the mat. Where did your girlfriend go? Did she have to have anything custom-cut?
  20. I'm currently reading The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster with my 4th and 5th graders. I love it because of the rich language and the way the author plays with words. I talked it up before we started, and my class (27 students, varying levels of ability) are all enjoying it. The characters are wonderful, and there is a lot to make you think.
  21. As my husband pointed out, I did indeed get a Kindle for Christmas, and I am absolutely loving it. I had seen them advertised, but wasn't sure I would like them (particularly, holding them while I read), until I saw and held one at Staples a couple of months ago. I was very impressed with how light they are. (I was worried that my hand/wrist would get tired or sore during long reading sessions.) I did a little research after that, and everything I saw rates the Kindle as the best e-reader available now. A co-worker showed me hers, which is the slightly bigger model, and raved about the page forward/back buttons. I'm liking the smaller one a lot. Book prices aren't a whole lot better than actual paperbacks, but the ability to purchase new books almost instantly is a great feature, I think. You can also download free games and purchase other games; this feature is a nice bonus, without making it a hand-held computer. Someone also mentioned the experimental functions (such as on-line access), but I haven't tried those out much yet. All in all, I'm really happy with my Kindle. (It's even easier to read when I'm eating lunch or something, because I can set the Kindle next to me; no more juggling a book and food.)
  22. One of my all-time favorite movies is from the 80s--Sixteen Candles. I've seen it countless times, and still watch it like I've never seen it before (much like Dirty Dancing, which I re-watched for an entire week in college, on the campus tv station). My husband says I should mention Duran Duran, too, but I don't know if they're considered cheesy.
  23. I have seen a no-hitter (Jose Jimenez and the Cards over Randy Johnson and the D-backs), Molitor's cycle in Minnesota (I made a comment to my friends that he only needed the homer for the cycle--a pitch or two before he hit the homer), and a World Series Game 7 where my team won (D-Backs over the Yankees in '01).
  24. I watched a couple of D-backs broadcasts last week, and it seemed that all Darron could talk about was beating the Brewers, which he stated quite forcefully multiple times. I enjoyed him when he was in Milwaukee, but now, he is just an overly loud, rather annoying broadcaster. He and Grace would more or less yell/scream during the promo reads during the broadcast. I'll take BA and Bill any day over Sutton and Grace.
  25. The FSArizona feed is in HD. When the Brewers are in Phoenix, we're stuck with the FSAZ broadcast. We're bummed, too, because we had planned to be in Phoenix this weekend, but neither of us felt all that great last week, and we decided not to go. Oh well, I console myself with the knowledge I've seen a Brewer cycle in person (Molitor, '91, Metrodome), but my husband hasn't--yet. Way to go, Jody!
