  1. Being a Pens and a Hawks fan.....its been a tough week. That being said.....this playoff season has been awesome!
  2. Agree with your comments guys. The officials on the ice this weekend looked lost, confused, and called (and did not call) some very terrible penalties. That being said.....UMD is pretty good. i dont think they are nearly as good as NoDak or BU (Who have both beat us too) but I felt like in both games Bucky had a good shot to win. Eaves discussed in his postgame interviews how the Badgers "are right there" with the top teams in the nation. They are young, and need to find a way to get over the top. Another big concern....Badgers are 0-25 (in getting a win) in the last 25 overtime games. The exact record is 0-8-17, and the last overtime win was in 2007. IF this young team is going to work that hard to get the tie, then they have got to find a way to get one in OT. The goaltending struggled this weekend, with both giving up some goals that many of us thought they should have made the stop. Guess that happens. Offense looked good, esp on Friday night, where 5 goals should get you a win (and ice cream). Saturday, in the first period, Bucky missed on at least 3 great scoring chances. All-in-all, I cant be mad with the offensive production. UMD's goalie needs to get over his bad blood for UW. Your a Bulldog, not a Badger. Stop with the stupid stick taunting after both games...... One final thought.....I found out why Craig Smith threw the net off its moorings at the NoDak player last weekend. Apparently, he has bad-blood with that defensemen from Junior hockey. The defensemen was chirping at him the entire weekend, and had completed a few upper body checks on Smith. The entire Badger team was steamed about it, including the coaching staff. Right before the "net-chucking," Smith had a 2 on 2 break and had beaten said defensmen. The D-man slashed Smith across the back of the knees (no penalty was called, see the about posts) and it actually drew blood behind both of Smith's legs. Smith took a shot, weakened from the slash, that was saved. The Defensmen then skated behing the net, chirping more, asking "how your legs" with a few female dogs thrown in for good measure. Smith lost it and hit the net at him. He wanted to drop the gloves, but in the NCAA thats an automatic suspension. The players can taunt and challenge, but until there is an acutal fight, there is no penalty.
  3. Craig Smith could be one of the best players in America if #1 - he could win a faceoff and #2 - He was not such a hothead. (see post above, he was mad and tried to knock the NoDak goal into a player behind it, drawing a penalty, which they scored on) He will probably lead the team in scoring when its all said and done, and probably also lead in penalties by a lot.
  4. Badgers lose 4-2 and are swept. Too bad. But now they know where they need to be.....NoDak is good. Hang in there, they will be much better as the year goes on!
  5. Jordy Murray out for tonights game..... Down 1-0 thru two periods. NoDak dominating. They are a very impressive team, no doubt. I think they have taught the book on Goody. Shoot high into traffic ( Goody butterflys down all the time, and this is how they scored their Saturday goal ) and shoot far side high on a breakaway. (This is how they scored Friday and came very close twice already Saturday) That being said, Goody is single handedly keeping Bucky in the game tonight. Lets Go Red One other thought.....the line of Dolan, Johnson, Little is terrible. Scrappy at best, horrid offense this weekend. And they keep getting stuck on the ice against NoDak's top line. Ugh
  6. A couple of thoughts.... NoDak is really good. They are fast, big, and dont get rattled. We can play with them, but we have to play our "A" game for 60 mins. Friday we didnt and the difference was 1-0. When Jordy Murray went out, thats when we were in trouble. I an not sure what everyone else saw, but I have friends who sit behind the Badger bench and apparently he was cut very badly. And he never returned to the ice for the 3rd period......When he left the game, he was replaced on the PP by Patrick Johnson. Which is a choice that I dont understand. We have a ton of scorers and tallent and Eaves put PJ on the #1 PP.......I was not a fan. I think it was PJ who had the turnover that led to a 2-1 and the game winning goal. Bucky cannot get into a 4 on 4 with NoDak - They were way quicker than us and thats when the game was decided....... Their fans were not very nice. My seats are behind the opponents bench, next to the visiting players parents. Usually the fans around us have a lot of good natured ribbing and fun with the opponents fans. For example, the Husky-Husky fan from Michigan Tech is a favorite of everyone. The North Dakota fans, on the other hand, were really not very cool. I would describe them as angry......pretty funny. They take their hockey very seriously.....but it is North Dakota. What else do they have? I am wondering if their chant of "And the home of the Souix" at the end of the national anthem is offensive to anyone on here? It doesent really bother me, whatever, but the people around me complain every year. Any thoughts anyone?
  7. I feel bad for Alabama Huntsville. No conference.....they are like the vegabonds of the NCAA. The guys sitting with me were laughing at their uni's, because the letters and numbers looked like they were iron-on. Its gotta be hard to get recruits and fans to follow a small time hockey program ..... in Alabama. BTW - Wisconsin is now ranked #13 in the Nation! They continue to move up.....big showdown against North Dakota this weekend.
  8. Gudmanson is our #1, but Bennett is not bad! Bennett is 3-0-1. Gudmanson is 3-2-1 Both will be ranked in the top ten nationally after this weekend - going in, according to USCHO.com, Bennet was #3 in the nation in goal per game, Gudmanson was #24. I think Goalie will not be a problem spot for this team! In fact, to have two senior goalies is something that nobody else has......some teams, if their starter gets hurt it destroys their season. Ours.....well we have #1 and #1A. I still worry that we take way too many penalties. And no matter who is in net, we give up a ton of 2 on 1's and 3 on 2's. Friday night they had a bunch that we luckily stopped, Saturday two of their goals came as a result of odd man rushes. This team could be pretty good if they clean that up. The WCHA is, as always, wide open. They sure can score a ton......
  9. Game two over. Badgers come back to tie in a good game 3-3. A nice weekend for Bucky, getting 3 of 4 points on the weekend. Tonights game was a fun one....both teams had some great goals and both teams took their turn with all of the momentum. Great goal by Jordy Murray to tie it up with just over 2 mins to go.....not sure how he did it, but it was clutch! Go Bucky
  10. Minnesota comes out mega mad and scores the first two.....Lets Go Bucky!
  11. 5-0 after two.....Hey Hawing, I am in the mood for two scoops http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. I agree....half way through, Badgers dominating 4-0......and yet......these TV guys sound like they have never called a game before. And apparently Minnesota has never lost anything.....
  13. Go Bucky!
  14. Good Halloween Weekend Friday night win 5-2 Saturday night win 4-1. This team is beginning to play a lot better. Which is good, because they go to play the Golden Rodents next weekend, who are fresh off a sweep of CC.
  15. Game Two, Saturday Night - Badgers tie 2-2 Gotta feel a little bummed abou this one. Badgers lead 2-0 with 11mins to go in the third period, only to let two in to lose the win. Gudmanson was in goal for the second night in a row (Eaves playing a hunch that Goodie would respond after his loss from the night before) and was solid for 50 mins. Too bad we needed him for 60! Very curious that Brett Bennett was not in the net.....he had been playing very well and has looked great this year. Tough one to swallow....for sure. Michigan Tech next weekend, and holy cow, they are undefeated this year (3-0-2). But we are at home and should dominate. Still like this team a lot. Lots of scoring, lots of action. I stick with my claim that they are going to struggle with the penalties, but on any given night, they are going to score a bunch.
  16. The more I see the matchups, the worse it gets. The WIAA really messed this one up!
  17. Badgers lose 4-2 I agree. Listening to the other teams guys gets real old, real fast. Jesus this team takes a ton of penalties......that killed em tonight and looks to be a big-time problem this year...
  18. trwi7 - That news made me smile! And yes, the picture from Magnuss is not very good, or is the crowd, or are the announcers. But its on TV.....thats a start!
  19. Oh boy.....Denver TV guys. This could be interesting.......
  20. Bucky travels to Denver this weekend. Game one, tonight (Friday) at 8:30, on FSN. Would be nice for the boys to really get on a roll. Also....a very nice article today in the State Journal about Jordy Murray. Go Bucky!
  21. Badgers complete the sweep of Alabama Huntsville 5-2 on Sunday. This team is going to be fun. Very high energy, and a ton of offensive talent. They will have some problems with Defense, where we are slower and very offensive-minded, and they take a lot of penalties - Sunday's game should have been a bigger blowout, however, Bucky was in the box a ton and were in danger of being outshot by Huntsville Sunday. (Friday, UW outshot AH by about 30) Craig Smith is great. His only problem is that he takes the most penalties of any stud I have ever seen......when he stays on the ice he is great. But 3-1 to start the year is not bad. Go Bucky!
  22. Whatever.....it worked and they won. Great win. Maybe we should invite Gameday back more often.........
  23. Badgers bounce back in a big way, win Sunday 6-0. Early games make it look like this team will be aggressive and score a lot. Defense could be an issue.....penalty kill struggled on Friday, bounced back well Sunday..... Craig Smith, who was kicked out early Friday, had two goals today. He is going to be very, very good this year. GO Bucky!
  24. Even though Friday night was a loss, they played well. This team is so young.......but there is a lot of tallent, so it should be a fun season. Cannot wait until the home opener next weekend!
  25. I post a lot during the season on here....I would be ok with a new one too. First Period of the season over, Bucky up 3-2. Like the scoring....but not sure I like giving up 2 early........ Game not televised, but sounds pretty scrappy on the radio. Badgers have two major penalties...... I think its going to be an interesting, but fun season.
