  1. ahhhhhh, New York Seltzer...Forgot all about that stuff, they had a cream soda flavor too! Memories...
  2. and empty out the farm? can you imagine what they would want back for Hanley? no thanks...
  3. actually, didn't graf's also make a 50/50?
  4. This is why having Hart playing anything other than 1B at this time is asinine. He is a crappy right fielder to begin with, much less throwing him out there for one game every week or so...
  5. Jolly Good Cream Soda and Grape!!!! Drank the crap out of those as a kid! Also used to partake in the occasional Sour Power too! Ahhhhhhhhhhh, memories...
  6. Ishi, Ishi, he's our man, if he can't do it, no one can!
  7. Narveson will not be a #3 type starter, ever, especially coming off multiple surgeries. I'm not sure I understand the love for this guy on this board. Did people forget how serious his injuries/surgeries were? He can not be counted on to fill a rotation spot in 2013, just can't... ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=30558
  8. There is a chance he rejects it, forcing the Brewers to trade him to a contender THIS season. Who's to say he doesn't want to pitch into the playoffs this year, and still have his chance to sign a big pay off in free agency? If he sees no reason to think this team is going anyplace this season, why not jump ship, and have his pick of a few different places to land in his next contract? He could then choose a team that will be contenders (in his opinion) for the life of his next contract instead of possibly being part of a rebuilding project here. Hell, he could still accept that offer in Milwaukee, and have the opportunity to pitch in the play-offs someplace else this season.
  9. "Rolling" with those players, especially at two power positions would be pretty damn risky. Doesn't matter how good our pitching is, if we can't score runs, we can't be competitive. We still don't know what we have in Gamel and Green, so going into a season with them starting at 1B and 3B would be a ridiculous gamble.
  10. I should have been more clear in my post above when it comes to trading Aoki. What I meant was that everytime we get a guy who is good, and has value, there is always someone here saying we should trade them while we can... I didn't mean we have actually traded away all our good guys, what I meant was that there is always someone here wanting to trade those guys... Sorry for the confusion.
  11. I hope not. I am to the point that I can't stand seeing him pitch any longer. He is a heart attack waiting to happen.
  12. Pinning any hopes on Narveson for 2013 at this point would not be wise. You ask why we are counting him out, perhaps a better question is why are you counting him in? If he helps us out, GREAT! but I do not think you can head into next seson and expect anything of value out of him. That is setting us up for failure to say the least. Counting on a guy who just had rotator cuff surgery as your #3 would be asking for a lot of trouble. If he is able to contribute and at some point next season, be able to spot start or fill in for an injured starter, that is all I'm hoping to get out of him. He wasn't special enough before his injury to even remotetly consider him as a #3 going into next season.
  13. Who in their right mind would trade anything for Wolf? Not to mention, there must be something in his contract stating that Kottaras must be in the deal too. No one wants Wolf, get over that and move on people... Can't start Marcum just to be starting him. The guy is on the DL, starting him before he was ready would be dumb to say the least. Please, do not trade Aoki. Can't we get good players for once and try to hang onto them, not try to trade them off as soon as we see they have value? He doesn't cost much, and so far has been a great addition to this team. Keep Aoki.
  14. 2 things: 1. Why does anyone think our bullpen has made a significant turn around? The only change we made was putting K-Rod into the closers role. By the way, both of his saves were of the tight-rope variety. He looked horrible, but somehow battled through and saved the games. He can implode just as easily in his next shot. I don't think our bull pen woes are over after a 2 game sampling. There is nothing that tells me our bull pen is now solved, and we are now in 2011 form. Until I see some clean 9th innings with a lead, and someone step up on a regular basis and pitch like a major league pitcher out of the bullpen , I don't think this bullpen will magically be solved by switching K-Rod to closer. 2. Skipping Greinke's starts was completely asinine if we do intend to trade him, unless there is a team that we have a deal in place with who wanted him on the bench. That looks more and more doubtful as the days drag on. If Greinke pitches again this season in a Brewers uniform, this could go down as one of the strangest and dumbest moves yet in a season full of strange and dumb moves by our so called "manager."
  15. Melvin baffles me sometimes. Impatience of people? Isn't another reason to make a change based on the fact that we NEED to win some games??? Again, DM just angers me sometimes. Here is his latest statements regarding the Axford demotion: The Brewers plan on John Axford regaining his closer job as soon as possible. "The reason you turn it over is because of the impatience of people - the media, the fans, everybody else," said general manager Doug Melvin. "He's still got the best arm on the club." Francisco Rodriguez has converted both save chances since assuming the closer role, though he's done so in very shaky fashion. It's possible K-Rod could be dealt this month. 16. Latest on Greinke situation: Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the trade market for Zack Greinke may be softening. It appears that the Brewers pushing Greinke's next start back has raised some eyebrows within the industry. One executive told Rosenthal that they were "very" concerned about the recent developments with the pitcher, while another said, "he scares me, period." Rosenthal writes that teams "do not consider Greinke entirely trustworthy, in part due to his past struggles with social anxiety disorder." This is certainly noteworthy but could all be a moot point if Greinke returns next week and dominates for two starts leading up to the trade deadline. And, while some teams may be scared off by him, it only takes one that isn't and is willing to offer a package of prospects for him. Source: FOXSports.com Jul 20 - 10:37 AM
  17. It might be tough to stick him in the bullpen in August, then just bring him back out for the rotation in September. Getting used to pitching out of the bullpen, then a month later, getting reaclimated to starting is a lot to ask from a guy coming off tommy john surgery, and in the long run, might do more damage to him physically than just skipping every 3rd or 4th start and leaving him in the rotation. They knew this was coming all season, maybe what they should have done is skip at least a start a month during April, May June, and July instead of trying to come up with something else now... Skipping one start in those months would have taken 24+ innings off his current total. You can't just DL him for 6 weeks then expect him to be successful when it counts either...
  18. There is also a wildlife reserve across the road...
  19. Been there MANY times, and it is most definitley geared toward the little ones. Lots of rides, and dirt cheap for the little kids rides, most are .25 each!!! There is also a little swimming pool which is awesome for the little ones you have. Free parking too! http://www.ci.green-bay.wi.us/BayBeach/Rides.html Took my family there 2 weeks ago, I have a 14 and 16 year old now. We went for nostalgia sakes, but they still had a good time. They added the Zippin' Pippin' rollercoaster that Elvis once rented out a couple years ago. That one was 4 tickets ($1.00) and probably a little too rough for a 3 and 5 year old, in fact, I don't think they would be allowed on it anyway. With a 3 and 5 year old, you could easily spend 3 or 4 hours there and not have to spend a fortune.
  20. My condolences...
  21. I've sold a few Scooter bobbles for $30 on ebay. That is probably the top dollar right now.
  22. I truly think that all of you (myself included) who got to see KISS as your first concert experience have been blessed. There really is no better live band in the world!
  23. I see nothing embarrassing about that, especially in 1989. Yeah, nothing to be embarrassed about at all... Say what you want about the 80's metal bands, they had a good time, and as fans, we had a good time listening to them. I am biased though, that music provided a soundtrack to my high school and college life, so I am forever in tune with that stuff...
  24. Which is my point. RR has it in his head that non closers can throw 1 + innings, closers can't. The day he becomes a non-closer, he can now pitch 1+, like there was some kind of magic that takes place out of the closers role.
