  1. Weird parallels to Brian Butch's injury going into college postseason play a couple year's ago. 'Deflating' is the right word.
  2. I'm sorry, I wouldn't normally do this, but I'm completely stumped over what to do about this preseason trade offer: I would give: Matt Kemp (OF-LAD)Chris Perez (RP-CLE) I would get: Grady Sizemore (OF-CLE)Jon Rauch (RP-MIN)Clayton Kershaw (SP-LAD) The rub is that I'm pretty well set with power and SBs on the offensive side, but I could use the SP help. Over the season, I see Perez and Rauch as a wash (assuming Wood actually returns from injury), so it's a question of Kershaw making up the difference between Kemp and Sizemore. 10 teams, 5x5
  3. This one is the most amazing of the thread so far, in my mind. I'm surprised no friends have dragged you along.
  4. It's over! The cup is coming back to America! Finally we'll see a return of several monohulled challengers and maybe even a bit of relevance among sports media.
  5. Well, several days into the match and no races have been sailed. Abandoned once for light wind and once for heavy wind. Such is life in February in Valencia. No idea how they're actually going to be able to set a decent windward leg over 20 miles.
  6. Both Connor and Buddy Melges (A Wisconsinite, btw), were involved through the 80s and much of the 90s. There were regularly multiple American teams then, which hasn't been the case recently, the rarity of the present situation aside
  7. Years of litigation, and they're finally going to settle it on the water! (hopefully) And in ridiculous multi-hulls to boot! http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_U6Cp5x-Sbr8/SYg33TQFFEI/AAAAAAAAHc8/72MUXeqeEEc/s400/bmwo01.jpg Wooooo BMW Oracle! USA! USA! . . . . *crickets*
  8. I don't know much about Indy, but Louisville also has Churchill Downs, and it's worth spending plenty of time checking out The Highlands which is an area full of little quirky shops and restaurants. The Bourbon Trail isn't far away and the distilleries can be very cool to visit. As a non-parent I don't pretend to know what is or isn't feasible with a youngun, so I'll leave that to you.
  9. I hadn't listened to much of Ron Darling do color until tonight, but I'm impressed. He's adding a lot, and not being weird about it. EDIT: And flipping to TNT until the Twins lose, delighted to find BA and Joe Simpson. Good evening to watch baseball on TV.
  10. It wasn't in blue! A genuinely good moment for Telly. And equally hilarious.
  11. I was watching the Simpsons. Please explain, I love Telly moments. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif He interviewed Ms. Rodeo Colorado, whom Brian and Bill were making wisecracks about earlier in the game. He was intelligible the entire time with no awkward pauses, and although he used the same line about "braving the elements" both as a lead in and to send it back to the booth, I would call the whole thing a major success. (That said, I'm glad he got something in before the end of the year, because I never want to see him back again.)
  12. Wow, sorry to post twice in a row, but that might've been Telly Hughes' Broadcast Moment of the Year.
  13. Forgive me if this is common knowledge, but is that Marquis Grissom coaching 1st?
  14. Count me in as a member of the Weather Nerd Club (through much of my childhood I wanted to be a meteorologist). On a different note - it's very weird watching the Rain Delay Brewers Classics broadcast, hearing Brian Anderson, seeing Braun, Fielder, Gallardo . . . and then seeing Geoff Jenkins. I know he was a Brewer just a short time ago, but last season really was a watershed. Feels like a lot has happened since Geoff was in Milwaukee.
  15. Have to admit, can't turn away from the British Open right now.
  16. I must say, this feels the most like a real game of any ASGs I've watched, even compared to the others with world series home field on the line. All business.
  17. Embarrassing camera work by Fox on Obama's first pitch. Terrible. We couldn't even see the plate.
  18. Ah, good call. That makes sense. "Offense Tackle" also functions.
  19. Last night, leading into the break after the top half of the 8th, Brian Anderson noted that "The Muscle" was coming up next for the Brewers. He was of course talking about Gamel/Braun/Fielder. Yet, my heart skipped a beat.
  20. Oh, that hurts. Someone needs to take that back.It is Wikipedia. Just saying, there's nothing stopping you from . . .
  21. If I cover my eyes and uncover them again, will we leave this 2006 nightmare?
