  1. 2 and 7/9 games into the season, I'm going out on a limb to say Braun's gonna be awesome and this team is gonna struggle.
  2. Braun, Gamel. Guh. I want to give up, but I'll stay for the GIFs!
  3. Oh, actually I don't like the maximized earning potential argument. It's going to take me 330 years to make what these guys make. How much more do they need?!
  4. I understand the responses to my post and think they are valid. It's not so much that Braun cheated as much as now I suspect he lied and is lying. I never thought that last year. im not in the 'technicality' campIt's true we don't know, but odds are we won't ever know. FWIW, baseball is the last sport I care about. I haven't watched any other sport seriously for years. I don't need it to be pure, but I'd like it not to be a scandal all the time. It's as much sport coverage, if not more, as it is the sport itself. There are plenty of other reasons I've overlooked over the years, so I guess what I'm saying is that subjectively, Braun is the last straw. It's always been going on, but it's never before been the best player ( arguably all time) on the team I care about. Oh, and no offense at being called stupid!
  5. I think he cheated. I'm angry I'll have to watch his at bats for however long is left on his contract. I'm angrier the team will be paying him longer than that. I'm angry that he (likely) lied to us. I hope I'm wrong, but if I am wrong it seems like it should have been cleared up easier than this. I'm sick that either way (clean and wrapped up in the scandal or dirty and wrapped up in the scandal) that I can't just enjoy this sport naively. It's not an escape from the complexity and disappointment of real life anymore. Why should I give MLB or the Brewers (and hence Ryan Braun) my money? I'm on the fence about canceling my mlb.tv subscription. I would have canceled it already if the website as working. My wife will probably still get the Verizon Extra Innings package, but I don't know that I can watch anymore. I'm being melodramatic, fine, but setting aside all the time and money I have for MLB over the years makes me feel like a dupe.
  6. You identify the important drawback with Verizon. We get very few Brewer games in HD. The HD channels seem to go to the east and west coast teams a lot, probably just because the east coast games typically start an hour earlier and then the west coast games start at 10 out here. Not to mention that Verizon customer service is pretty lousy, and they seem to have a lot of problems with Extra Innings. Last year we signed up early but they didn't tell us our box wasn't compatible with the added HD channels. We got a new box in the mail a few days after the season started (that was fast, to be fair), but then it turned out the local infrastructure wasn't set to broadcast the channels anyway (or something like that, I talked to so many people who had no clue and it was really frustrating). Well, I ranted a bit, but basically I'd do Apple TV if I was going to do it again, and the iPad is a great option.
  7. This is a long thread and I haven't read any of it. But, I thought I'd share my opinion anyway... My first thought is that it took him a while to become a competent at 2B. I don't think it was his fault because he got rushed and had to do at the Major League level what most players do working their way up. So, I think he could move because he's show he's able to develop. That said, do the Brewers have the time or the need to develop him elsewhere? I don't see why you'd put him elsewhere in the infield given his skill set, and I don't see why they'd need him in the outfield.
  8. Most interesting Brewer news from the meetings so far.
  9. Not sure if this is the right thread for this comment, but I've been enjoying the end of this season nearly as much as last year. The bounce back is exciting to see, and there isn't the dread that they might "blow it."
  10. It's been fun to watch the last 2 weeks or so. That's a nice change. This was a good game, and the Segura plays were exciting.
  11. Something positive: losses don't bother me this year, and any win is great!
  12. I remember a Rob Deer homerun at County Stadium. It wasn't a game winner, but it was a towering blast through the gap between the left field bleachers and the foul poll. Immediately off the bat everyone in the place jumped to their feet. I was tossed a ball from an umpire. It was a Yount ground out to second to end the inning. I was at Dave Bush's near no hitter that nearly turned into a terrible loss, and that same game included Prince's inside the park homer that got stuck under the padding on the right field wall.
  13. I don't like the Nationals and I hope they fold down the stretch. Mostly I'm just bitter from watching this wreck of a Brewers team. Bah.
  14. I'm done unless they make a trade so there is something to follow. Absolutely terrible.
  15. I'm not going to get a chance to get to Miller Park until the second week of Sept, after the Packers have started. I'm worried MP is going to be like a cemetery. Still, I'll be there. Maybe I'll get free tickets like the dark days of 2002ish.
  16. I understand your point, but listening to them speak honestly about this team would get old faster. The best thing to do at this point is talk about something else entirely. Just look at how short the game threads have been this year. There isn't much to say.
