  1. I'll be the first to admit I was wrong about Ryan Braun when we drafted him. I questioned him due to the same reason I think colbyjack did, and that was because of the "hitch" in his swing. It might not even be a hitch, but on some swings he just makes the adjustment mid stride after looking fastball. He's just a unique hitter. He keeps his hands back, he has quick hands, and is wiry strong. He should have a great career. Hopefully most if it is in Milwaukee. And hopefully we can complete this comeback. I think it would be our biggest since the Reds, down 8 or 9 a few years ago.
  2. Man that Dave Bush......he's just a really unlucky guy
  3. Has there ever been an entire game thread devoted to sarcasm ala haikus and letters?
  4. People who conspire prey upon the naive who believe that conspiracies aren't very possible, thus allowing them to not be questioned. Some people think all conspiracies have to do with aliens and are quick to dismiss them. Sometimes they are as simple as an agreement between two people when millions to billions of dollars are involved. And when things are done so secretively, they are pretty easy to pull off. I did watch the Bucks get screwed pretty blatantly by the officials back in the big three days. I mean some of those calls can't be possible for 3 officials to miss. Eddie Jones in the last few seconds of a 1 possession game, dribbles the ball and picks it up for 5 seconds, before proceeding to dribble again. It's a blatant violation in junior ball, but it's not called in professional basketball. There were just so many close games and playoff games, where I couldn't believe my eyes. Same things with the Kings in the playoffs against the Lakers. How much money and credibility is the NBA losing with all those meaningless games late in the season when teams aren't trying to win for the possibility to win in the future? The chances of it none of the top 3 staying there were .08 percent. If the Sonics move to Vegas, that's a pretty great place for Durant to be in the spotlight and become a star. He's going to make much more on promotional deals than Oden anyways, because his game is more exciting, and Oden has the personality of a rake. Who cares about games being played in the northwest or west coast? The Lakers don't seem to have problem getting ratings.
  5. Oh no problem. You deserve a stow it (like that's really offensive, it's from a hokey 80's show) after saying a guy had a bad night when at the time he was 1-3 with a stolen base, on a night where nobody is doing well. Now he's 2-4. Terrible night. He's at the top of the lineup. If anything, move him to leadoff or the 8th spot; where power isn't at a premium.
  6. Stow it. He had a single and a stolen base for his first AB. His second AB he worked the count very well and took a borderline strike, otherwise he has a walk. Bad first at bat, no objection there. Penny is a pretty tough pitcher and nobody has done much against him tonight.
  7. Tony Graffanino's entrance music: "picture me rollin" by 2pac I believe that put his OPS under .500 for the season. We'll have to call it the Graffanino line, because that's rarified air for a player with 100 AB's.
  8. Man, Penny has been really lucky tonight. We should have at least 2 runs.
  9. Good thing Yost put Bill back in the cleanup spot. His approach this year has been terrible. He's first pitch swing and swinging at balls at his eyes. .206/.670 with RISP. C'mon Bill!
  10. Well, I was wrong about my top 2 predictions. I can't really think of a vested interest the NBA has in seeing Oden in Portland. Seattle doesn't seem like a favorite of the NBA either....unless they move to Vegas. I was actually thinking that the #6 pick might be a blessing in disguise if we didn't make the top 3. We might have had a hard time justifying taking Conley at 4 or 5 considering where he was projected. We may have went with Horford or Jianlian. Conley has the ability to make teammates better, which is something which takes no time to translate. That skill is very ingrained and therefore I think he's much more NBA ready than he's given credit for. He also would improve the Bucks defense at the point, which is one of the two most important defensive positions. And Conley would allow us to sign and trade Mo (packaged with Villanueva) for a starting 4 who plays better defense.
  11. 6th pick overall. Worst possible! They'd never give it to us in a year with a true #1.
  12. I'm a conspiracy theorist too when it comes to the NBA lottery, and based on that I predict Atlanta and Boston get one of the top 2 picks. Atlanta is a big market but has a dormant franchise. A guy like Oden would help rejuvinate them immensely. And they don't need yet another 3/4 like Durant. They have about 7 billion of those already. Boston is another big market team with a potentially rabid fan base. I think they'll have a shot at either Oden or Durant. No way they allow the Bucks to have a top 2 pick in a year where there are two true #1 types. I think they got it out of the way in 2005 in a year where there was no true #1 (I hope I'm wrong). That's not a knock on Bogut, but about 5 or 6 players from that draft reasonably could have been the best player. My board would be: 1. Oden 2. Durant 3. B. Wright 4. Conley 5. Horford I don't have to go beyond that because the worst the Bucks could get is the 6th pick, and Conley will almost surely still be there. I think we'd play Oden at the 4 in the minute chance that we can net him, because Bogut has proven he can't handle the pick and rolls. Oden is more athletic than Bogut so he'd have a better shot at recovering. That would still pull Oden out of the paint, but he still has the quickness to recover and be a factor down low in those cases. His shot blocking will help cover up the many mistakes by Buck's defenders. His footwork and strength should still allow him to be a monster rebounder. And keep in mind, the entire year he had a sprained or broken wrist, and thus he had to shoot with his off hand. As is, he still showed good touch in the post, and from the free throw line. He didn't show his full potential because of that injury. Even if that was an accurate representation of his offense, he could still be Bill Russell. And you don't pass on Bill Russell. Oden helped guide OSU to the championship game as a true freshman (Conley too). Durant never led Texas to a legit top 25 ranking all year. They were well below .500 against the rpi top 25 and below .500 against the rest of the top 50. Seeing as though basketball is the team sport where one singular player can make the most impact, that's pretty telling in spite of his individual stats. Durant is not a particularly good man to man defender nor does he make his teammates better. That's not to argue that he's not a fantastic player, he just won't have the impact of Oden, regardless of need.
  13. I'm glad you asked, because he was my favorite draftee from the 05' class from watching film, but I had completely forgotten about him. I'll go out on a limb and predict that he's in High A by the end of the year and a top 20 or better Brewer prospect. He has a quick compact stroke if I remember right, with a stocky build to generate power with that style, but he carries his weight very well in the field and on the bases. Slick player.
  14. I hate to be a pessimist, but that homer might actually lower our already high win expectancy. That means we won't see Cordero until another reliever gets in trouble. But it was fun to watch by Prince http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. It's a good thing that Yost didn't pinch hit for Suppan last inning with the bases loaded. It's understandable, but unlike earlier in the season, a lot of the 50/50 decisions lately aren't working out in his favor.
  16. What an idiot fan. Furcal may have a shot at a triple. You'll never see any Steve Bartman plays like that at Miller Park.
  17. Ha, that's gap power by Tony Gwynn Jr.
  18. That was assault with a deadly weapon
