  1. It's almost as if Mota wants to sabotage himself in his return to Shea Stadium.
  2. I would have went with Riske because of Mota's fragile psyche.
  3. Then he should have said that, yah? You've got to pick up your teammates when they hit a lazy pop fly with a runner on third and less than 2 outs.
  4. That was a pretty good one. I think he was referring more to exhibiting range and making a tough catch.
  5. It didn't look like Prince broke the plain. Endaround can assert we got a break on that double play, but overall the New York bias has seeped into these umpire's decisions over the course of the series.
  6. Pick up a victory tomorrow and the Crew will have sufficiently compensated for the disappointment that was the Reds' series.
  7. If it weren't for Shea Stadium, Hall would have a major league leading 7 homers on the season. He tattooed a baseball in the ninth inning last eve, which just didn't have enough to penetrate the dewy, dense atmosphere, and propel beyond its distant rightfield destination.
  8. We're still very much in this ballgame. Enough of the "we're done" comments. Our offense is very potent....and has played like winners this season....so they deserve the benefit of the doubt that they can potentially dig themselves out of a small hole. Bush was decent overall, it was just was the collection of his starts the last 3 seasons that are starting to wear on everybody. As a starting pitcher, you should be able to get beyond 5 innings so your bullpen isn't overworked. Also, he doesn't pitch like a winner. The Reds gift him a lead and he promptly turns around and relinquishes it. Who knows how badly he would have been abused had he stayed in the ballgame?
  9. He was taking 2nd base fielding lessons from Rickie Weeks!
  10. Winning makes everything go down smoother. "You run out of Klements, You run out of taste, yeah!" If anyone has a problem with Trinny Kisnerick or whatever her name is, they'll never be satisfied with a sideline reporter. She's a billion times better than Anne or Brainerd.
  11. Yeah, all I can figure out is Weeks kept inexplicably pursuing the baseball and Hart refrained from making a running catch so the two wouldn't collide AND so the player making the catch had at least a little momentum. As a result though, Corey wasn't able to step into his throw adequately. Rickie has poor defensive awareness.

  13. Unfortunately Bush is #3 in the rotation, so all that will happen is he'll get bumped to fourth. Parra is the player who'll be jettisoned. It's too bad because Parra is better than Bush, his only question is experience. Bush is probably the 6th best pitcher in the rotation when everybody is healthy (including Cappy).
  14. No. It's blustery, frigid Wrigley Field in early April.
  15. The same Carlos Villanueva that walked over 4 per 9 innings last year? I would say Sheets has the best control. I anticipated the over-simplified walk argument. Carlos Villanueva is smart enough to know that he doesn't have lights out stuff so he has to force the most dangerous pitchers to chase "his" pitch. Often his pitch is a virtually unhittable one, and if the batter is seeing the baseball well enough he won't swing. Good finesse pitchers should walk a batter every once in a while. Otherwise they're being too aggressive. I could be labeled as having the best stuff on the Brewers staff if I my primary goal was to never walk anyone. But my ERA would be about 100. Villanueva locates his pitches where he's intending. A bit on and off the corners. He defines great control.
  16. No, he's not. And I'd like to inform Brian Anderson that Carlos Villanueva has the best control of anyone on the staff. He's a painter.
  17. More techinical difficulties?!?!
  18. I'd be fine with Mota up three runs and with Gagne's confidence shaken.
  19. As per usual, Rickie doesn't get the job done with a runner on third and less than 2.
  20. This pen has great potential to find at least 3 reliable relievers. Torres was painting against Soriano.
  21. Everyone is without audio on their TV feeds, right? Edit: Nevermind
