  1. You can blame DM and company for not giving Cappy the 5th SP job or at least first crack at it. How could they not sell him on that? Narveson could have been the long man in the pen and first to move up with an injury. Narveson may have "deserved" the spot more due to recent production and less injury risk, but it would have been worth it to put him below Capuano, just to have more depth.
  2. McCalvy confirmed the plan is for Yo to start the 5th. They've needed to add a SP since before Greinke's and Marcum's injuries. There just isn't a lot out there. There is a reason no one has added Bonderman, Washburn, Millwood, etc.. The lack of SP depth on this team is pretty appalling. They still might add a guy from another team that gets released in the coming week or two. I'd be happy with just about any one who can get through 6 innings.... not sure Peralta, Rivas, Estrada, McClendon, etc can do that.
  3. Gallardo can pitch on April 5th with 5 days rest. He pitches March 31st, opening day, which is followed by an off day in case of a rain delay. They would still need a 5th starter for April 6th. Doesn't really make much of a difference whether Yo pitches April 5th or 6th except for matchup against Tommy Hanson of the Braves. I don't see any logical reason why they would pitch Marcum or Wolf on short rest with a 4 man rotation. My breakdown - http://kpanz.blogspot.com.../rotation-shake-out.html
  4. I'm thinking about making my first trip to Spring Training down in Phoenix this year. I've heard that right near the stadium isn't the nicest area to stay. Any hotel suggestions? Any other tips are welcome as well. Thanks.

  6. Does anyone know if you will be able to drive up and purchase general admission parking for today's game? I can't imagine a ton of advanced parking passes were sold.
  7. I guess I can understand the distaste some of you may have, it was something my friends and I did like 8 years ago in high school. I wouldn't do it now or anything, I have no problem paying for parking. But I don't think it's nearly as big of a deal as it's being made out to be. They might patrol it now or whatever, but back then they told us they didn't really care as long as we parked in the back. The street parking was either further away or full, I don't really recall. To me, at the time, it wasn't a big deal and I was just throwing it out there. It's not as if we stole a spot for someone who needed it. There were 100's of spots available, and all were much much closer to the VA. We were kids who wanted to park for free, and the security guard didn't mind.
  8. I know for a fact they don't care if a couple dozen people do it. I happen to think someone would care if you parked in their driveway.
  9. I realize that, but their are literally several hundred spots between the last row I've ever seen someone park for using the VA, and where the people park in the back that go to the game. It's not even remotely possible that you are taking a vet's spot that wants to park there.
  10. ways to save on parking: a bunch of people park in the way back lot of the VA and walks the path up to MP, I used to do it back in the day. It's a huge lot, but if you park in the back, its actually a pretty short walk to the stadium. If you go to Kelly's Bleachers or Fiesta Girabaldi on bluemound before the game they shuttle you to the stadium there and back for free. its extrmely easy to get a shuttle to go there as they run about every 15 minutes. getting back is always more difficult because a lot of people are trying to catch them. usually we don't feel like waiting or shoving people to get on one of them an just end up walking back then which is not bad at all, only a quick 10 minutes. pile a bunch of people in your vehicle and split the parking cost. also, if you plan on going to a decent amount of games, you can get a parking pass in advance that is cheaper. saving on food and costs: tailgating and eating before the game prevents you from having to spend on ton on stadium food, and you just spend a few bucks on food from a grocery store. if your hungry by the time the game ends, fire the grill up again. bringing a flask in and buying a soda is extremely easy. i've never once been patted down at mp. drink enough before the game to cost you through which also lets you sober up for the drive home.

  12. Does anyone know if the game will be on DirectTV or Dish????????? I was really looking forward to watching tonight, and am hoping it will at least be on at a bar on Dish/directv.
  13. Cueto throws a ton of strikes, I think the crew will have to attack him more than the patient approach or he'll be ahead of them all night.
  14. I am of the opinion that I don't think Jenkins will get booed. There may be a few bad seeds out there, but overall I think he'll actually get cheered. But, I definitely think Cordero will get booed because people will perceive his leaving as selfish and completely money related.
  15. I think his average is also bloated right now by some seeing eye singles and such. The hr's will definitely come... but he looks frustrated with his lack of good hits right now.
  16. One of my friends that is a pretty good looking girl had "dinner" with Bill Hall. I mean I didn't witness or anything but she claims it to be fact, and she's a straight shooter.
  17. I'm 100% sure that all the people booing in my section were saying boo, not coop.
  18. Last year I went to a game on Cecil Cooper bobblehead night vs. the Astros, and it just so happened Cooper was the interum manager of the Astros. They had a little peice on the big screen from an interview with Coop earlier in the day while he was in an Astros uniform, and about half the place actually booed him. I couldn't believe it.
  19. If Gagne has a few missteps like he did in Boston at the end of last year, I could easily see him getting booed this year....very easily.
  20. I think relievers are so much more prone to get booed because its much easier for them to blow a game. They come into these high pressure situations, and can literally loose the game in an instant. Usually its happens moreso when the fans dislike a particular player. In Milwaukee, it doesn't have to be for bad character reasons. People dislike Turnbow just because he's blown his fair share of games. Thats all it takes. Weird thing is though, I've been to games where Turnbow has saved the day, and its almost as if people cheer even harder for him then. Same thing with Jenkins from the last year or two. It's like a roller coaster of emotions for some reason.
  21. looking at their pitches on fangraphs is pretty interesting, however it only goes back to 2005. for instance, i learned that in 2006 mariano rivera threw his regular fastball 57% of the time, and his cutter 43% of the time. then last year in 2007, he threw his fastball only 27% and his cutter was thrown a whopping 73% of the time. very interesting... I also learned that Wakefield throws his fastball 12-13% of the time at about 75 mph p.s... shouse came in at an ave. of 80.6 mph for last year.
  22. Mota learned a changeup from Gagne with the Dodgers in '02. I think he mostly throws fastballs though.
  23. Bush just introduced the slider and changeup this spring. previously he only threw the cut-fastball and the sweeping curve.
  24. I need a change of scenery. Sheets is annoying the crap outta me. peace.
  25. Glad Munson is establishing his ability to back up first base.
